Forums - Sony - What LCD should I get for the PS3

Cost per value, Samsung simply stands out, pick one of their later 40" model and you can't go wrong. Sony is great but for the imporvement, not worth the additional cost. I don't recommend anything below 40 for the PS3, it just loses something below that...

Like what? Because I'm on a 20 inch HDTV that goes to 1080i and I'm happy. Sometimes I wish I had had a bigger HDTV but other times I'm completely satisfied

Depends really, take blue-ray for example, to really see the difference between 1080p and SD, you need a 40" or over screen, below that and the line begin to blur. Gaming is less effected by this but if you're getting a new TV, 40" is a definite standard to try and achieve.

I agree, there's really no need for for 20" TV to have 1080 res. You can only see the difference if you were practically kissing your tv screen.

The one described in my sig and shown in my avatar

Stick with Sony and Samsung for quality, Sharp and Toshiba for value. Any of the aforementioned are great brands.

XD what? The Toshiba Regza blows Sony and Samsung out of the water. Stay away from Sharp. buy a Toshiba, or get a Vizio and a home theater system.

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

You need at least a 32""

I would look into Samsung if i was you.

pffff no plasma.

Well least you wont know what you are missing, i love the vibrant colors.

LMAO, get with the times! the latest LCD models easily match the latest Plasma models and some models easily surpass them,

I spent about 6 months researching before buying my HD TV, I went for a top spec Sony 720P Plasma, within a week I had returned it (poor picture and sound was not what i expected) and got a Samsung LCD 1080P, then two weeks later I returned that and got the new LG 52" 1080P LCD TV, absolutely fantastic TV, can't fault it in anyway and the picture is one of the best set's I have seen, the casing looks nice too, no visible speakers but has superb sound, 5 HDMi, 3 Scart, Bluetooth, 120hz (I leave this off though), USB update, <3 m/s response time, zero lag, game mode, 75 picture settings in expert mode and absolutely no ghosting even on HD football!,

I've now also got an LG monitor for my PC! very good make these days and very good value for the features and quality.

My mum and dad have a Panasonic Plasma 720P TV and they aren't happy with that either, it's also had some screen burning issues, you can see the Sky 1 logo almost all the time now, anyway to get rid of it?

I got mine about a year ago, a 32" 1080p Toshiba and it is fine. You could probably buy one like that for $500 now.
