Ur funny!!
Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

so after looking at the charts the answer is no, all the systems had there jumps but none ever made a come back except the PSX whch did have a rocky start then went Gold. one exception it did not have serious competition and got all 3rd party games.
Big question can Sony pull the rabbit out of the hat twice given the compitition and the 3rd party not all going to sony this Gen?
all failed system's had AAA games and still failed so no one game will save a failing system.

I will go out on a limb here and say no it will not beat the Game Cube. I know twisted logic nothing with Sony on it can fail to that extent, but honestly I see the console running out of steam long before it sells twenty million units world wide. I also think it will be the last Playstation console we will ever see. Thats all I have to say on the subject.

It would appear those are Japan only? (check PS - all against PS - Japan and the same with N64)

Aligning the launches presents a disingenuous picture of that race. The PS1 and Saturn were neck and neck until about 1997. It was never as far as behind as the PS3 is now.

Hmm, you're right. Now that I look at it, the PS1 was never in any real danger.
Systems don't fail, it fails when a company quits the console and when you compare the console with others base on sales.
PS3 to Gamecube, you guys are comparing both of these consoles, that had excellent games but are currently in third place due to decisions based on sales. Not one time did Nintendo quit on Gamecube so its not a failure. Its a failure when comparing it to the PS2 and Xbox.
PS3 is still questionable, but I think Sony isn't going to give up. This is the first sha-bang they had done in a long time and it would put them in Sega shoes if they were to give, which would make them little punks and wussies that couldn't hold on and just take the losses. I think Sony is in it and they are going to pull a Nintendo Gamecube-type thing like last gen. And fight there way through to the end. And next-generation they will look at the mistakes and make a console to compete on the same level like Nintendo and Microsoft.
I see it like this as I said before:
Failure is due to a company quiting and when comparing the console to others with sales.
