@Jaaau!

That manual pass function has been on PES since PES 4, It's done with the Right Analog Stick, and you decide the force, placement and swerve of the ball with it. FIFA just copied the same funcionality, as it works exactly the same way. Actually, you can only trully master PES if you master the manual pass, because coupling it with the 1-2 pass, it's the only true way you'll ever make it through professional tournaments were the competition is really fierce.

I've played a lot of matches in FIFA 09, some couple of seasons as well, and I just don't get the same simulation feeling that I have with PES, since the matches flow so slowly, and the players are not very well balanced, since they have akward resistance to tackling. Also zone defence in FIFA isn't very well done, because the AI will pressure you with one or two defenders when you are only near their area, in most parts of the field there are a lot of inconsistancies (I've done dribblings with Puyol through the entire middle field of Chelsea and no one came to try to take off the ball.)

In PES you've got more fluid matches and the whole feeling of the matches seems more lifelike.

@Zexen_Lowe

Actually, my major gripe with Be a Legend is the fact that it is very inconsistant with the substitutions, and the fact that it really doesn't matter if you are a good player or not, because you're always treated like a newcomer in each team that you go.

Doh! Believe it or not I didn't know PES had a manual passing system as good as FIFA's.   Not surpring though as they copied all the good things on PES.

The slower flow is good IMHO.  Difficulty is fine when set on the high levels, you can't just dribble player after player (neither you can on PES).  If anything, on difficult, PES will do things like slow down your player and such, and after playing some years, you come to realise when you won't get the ball because the game won't let you.  Don't know if you have had this feeling.  With all this I'm not saying FIFA is perfect, far from it, or PES totally sucks, in fact the difference between the two is not too big but with PES getting stuck FIFA overtook it.  That's my opinion.

Around the Network

Actually i've got that feeling in two PES games, PES 5 and PES 08. It seems that the AI gets a sort of boost and you can't touch the ball for some periods of time, it gets kinda annoying after a while.

I understand your opinion, I have some friends who where really let down by the stagnation of the series and turned to FIFA and are quite liking it. I just never could get back into FIFA, although I play a match or two when I go to their house ;)
