Hey BMarker,

Can you cite that the current crop of 360's have a 30% fail rate? If not, I feel a ban may be coming on.

FINISH HIM!

Well from my experience i've spent

$400 (pro console)

$136 (120 GB HD)

$120 (Xbox Live)

$10 (Vision Camera)

$150 (4 controllers)

$30 (wireless Headset)

$30 (Headset+texting pad)

and god knows how much money on games.  So i've spent $876 on accessories and 360 alone.  But guess what, It was worth every damn penny.

Expense Playstation 3 80GB Xbox 360 Arcade
Unit Cost $399 $199
Network Costs $0 $39.99 (Newegg) Can be found cheaper
Repair Cost (IF needed) $220 $140
Wireless Adapator $0 $85 (Newegg)
Total $620 $465

You can repair your ps3 at a cheaper price too. Go to a chinese mall and get it repaired for less money.

LOL I'm sure the 360 can be fixed for cheaper as well (not that you have to worry about it as its FREE for the first 3 years.

At the end of the day this artical hinges on the reapir box. And that doesn't make the 360 cost more.

The most serious problem known for (mostly old) PS3s is the general hardware failure known as YLOD (yellow light of death) and in the rare occurance of your PS3 getting that, Sony repairs it for around $150, no more than that.

On the other hand: ARE XBOX OWNERS AWARE (still feeling comfy MS is always there to repair their fragile 360 every other odd week) THAT IN EXACTLY 3 YEARS AFTER THEIR PURCHASE THEY WILL FIND THEMSELVES WITHOUT A CONSOLE AS SOON AS IT BREAKS? (and it certainly will again, you know that's more certain than the second coming of Christ). Meaning they will have to pay Microsoft for repairs, which would be totally pointless since the repair costs would be close to buying a whole brand-new console. So yeah, you will end up buying another 360/shelling out an extra ~$140, no matter what.

^ never seen so much trolling, my Elite was bought in 2007 and is still working. Stop making up BS

^Dude, it'll be 3 years old in 2010...next year will be dreadful for you! lol

^^ How about, no it won't.

^ok, you don't mind paying for another 360. MS doesn't mind either, they love your money and love to take your for stupid every time! Your working machine doesn't mean all others are fine and dandy. My friend also had a 2007 Elite, and a couple of months ago it got the E74 error. It will happen dude, sooner or later, but it's very likely.

*waits*

According to some over at N4G, Microsoft will still fix your launch units or any outside of the warranty for free if it suffers the RROD. Here's what they wrote:

go to xbox.com

click on support

click on Repair Your Console

sign in

enter your SN

if its over 3 years it will tell you its a charge of (99$) and than give you and option of what kinda problem your 360 had pick rrod... and the price goes from 99$ too (0)

Anyone willing to try it out?

^heh, you got a point. Xbox owners: just remember to breathe and don't look at the light while playing. It's good advice.
