Yes its possible, you just believe in incorrect information. The Xbox 360 uses far less power as the chip revisions have progressed, its a little more than half as much as a launch unit with Jasper and we will be two further hardware revisions in by the time the end of 2010 comes around. Reconstructing the layout if anything would make it more reliable as they would be able to finally fix a few of the niggling issues with the current design which cannot be fixed without one.

OK, we will see how that will work out =D two further hardware revisions? as in two new models (chipsets or whatever) will be introduced? Is that something you know for a fact?

it will be nice to see how it will work out though, the 360 slim I mean.. I am open for any outcome and don't necessarily believe it will fail. I am just curious to how it turns out ^^

Well the only thing I know for a fact is that theres at least one moderately big hardware revision which has happened every year since the Xbox 360 was released. Since Microsoft haven't got so many leaks lately we must rely on past precedent here.

2005: Xenon 90nm CPU/GPU

2006: Zephyr some random changes, forgot the details.

2007: Falcon 65nm CPU

2008: Jasper 65nm GPU

2009: ???? 45nm CPU (At least)

2010: ???? ??? revision???

Well the slim is obviously coming, the question is when and how slim?

Tease.

The answer to the question of the op is wii.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but no controller add-on that's been released mid-generation has ever played a significant much less decisive role in a console war.

I wouldn't even count on devs to make anything noteworthy for it considering that every 360 owner won't have it. It might even increase sales of the Wii by lending credence to the Wiimote's motion-sensing abilities.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

You're forgetting that the Sony Wands will come out in Spring 2010. And the slimline PS3 is increasingly more likely to come out in September of this year.

Dig around the internet a bit for information.

A PS3 at $300 will trounce the new Xbox with Natal next year.

Well the Xbox 360 @ $300 would be a slimline model also. At this point its hard to call it either way because we simply don't know how much a slimline Xbox 360 will cost and nor will we know what Natal will cost. Bah, I'll call it in favour of the Xbox 360.

Steve Ballmer is too fat to allow a 360 Slim. He'd either have to buy a PS3 to play Fat Princess (to make him feel better about himself) or a Wii to play Wii Fit, and being the head of Microsoft, he cannot do either of these things.

LOL

PS3 slim is just a slimmed down PS3. Doesn't add any new functionality or value. Not going to sell a lot better than the PS3 fat.

Natalbox is a 360 with added gimmicky motion controls. It's not going to sell until they start developing good games for it. Third parties aren't going to release anything worthwhile until a year or so after it launches (As the wii has shown, third parties are timid in relations to gimmicky motion controls, and have a hard time developing for new control schemes). Unless Rare develops a game better than Wii Sports, Natal is never going to catch on in the casual arena.

Dude, it is not hard to make a game like wii sports or even wii fit. Natal development kits are already in the hands of developers...so you can expect some great games upon releases for Natal. Games that required body and feet movement ala boxing, soccer, tennis, dodgeball, tai bo, can't be done properly on a Wiimote, but on Natal, it is very much a possibility. And from the overall great and positive reactions from press and people in general, Natal can be just as big as the Wii.

To be honest, I don't think you can let the third party developers come up with great ideas for Natal or the PS3 Motion Controller. Look at the Wii; developers have been working with it for 3 years and its still Nintendo that pushes the next big thing with their motion controller. I agree with Showertea in that MS and Sony have to create something better than Wii Sports, and it has nothing to do with the fact that the game is hard to develop, it is the fact that Nintendo already came up with the idea and sold it to millions, so for them to just throw in a Wii Sports like game will not  get the typical Wii customer buy Sony's or MS's consoles.

What are you looking at, nerd?

@ squilliam

Valhalla is the next motherboard revision squill. It will reportedly combine cpu and gpu into one chip. I'm betting my marbles this is the slim. I read your analysis of the feasibility of 28-32nm chipsets in the 360 slim and it makes alot of sense. You're right. Intel reportedly is making smooth progress which is why they have started concentrating on the 32nm chips. Hopefully IBM follows suit.

Even if it is a 45nm chip in the slim, the fact that it'll be one chip instead of two has got to significantly improve power consumption, manufacturing costs and heat build up, right?
