Did you make this thread just to make fun of my religion?

Thats kind of a cop out.  If I said I believed in something that is opposed to reason, like that Obama would shit gold bricks and that would get the economy back on track, you would make fun of me.  But if I say, but thats my religion, I get a 'its okay to think anything' card.

Well, there is no way that I can answer that. I can say what it says in the bible, and you will just say "yeah, sure".These threads no one wins. I will not convince you of anything, and I will just end up flaming

So your entire faith, the way you live your life and see the universe, hinges on the fact that your Holy Book is infaliable?

No, there are several things I think are quite strange. Please stop. you are just trying to provoke me

I'm an athiest and I find that major flamebait.

On Topic: No.

I'm actually just curious.  The kind of response I was looking for was from pastro, and I would hope all people of all beliefs treat their religious beliefs with the same scrutiny and thought processes that we use in everyday life.

If you think asking someone if 'Moses split the Red Sea' or 'Jesus was the Son of God' is offensive, you're admiting that believing in such a thing is negative and something you should be offended for.

I was in a catholic school all my life, but that doesnt mean I still believe, actually I had many atheist classmates, so I dont know if Im the case of a believer admitting something in the bible is false, although, when I did believe there were many things me and my friends considered to be most likely fake, like adam and eve, Noas boat(dont know how to say it in english) and other things that could be proven wrong.

My old church, and the people in it, weren't so open minded, which may be why I am so opposed to religion now.  When I was five, my Sunday School teacher was upset with me when I tolder her I wanted to be a scientist when I grew up, she said all scientists didn't believe in God and would go to hell.  Ofcourse, I would later find out that I was going to hell anyway for believing in black holes.

Are you irreligious or an athiest?

I have heard catholics in america are known for being closedminded(?), here the main religion is catholiscism, but most people arent so heavy on it. In my university I have met very conservative catholics though, but in my school it was ok to think  what you wanted, we just preyed in the morning and they teached us some things like to help the poor and things like that but nothing more.

Me and my friends laughted at some church songs and changed the lyrics xD, put a cross upside down in the classroom and things like that, some teachers got angry but nothing more, they understood it was nothing seriuos when the thing of being a believer is just believe and not judge other people fpr not believing.

The thing is I dont believe but I cant say there is no god or something at all, I dont hate religion, I just find some things silly and absurd.

I'm just curious if anybody believes this:

Was Jonah swallowed by a whale where he lived for three days until the whale spit him out?

I don't know.  Go ask Mr. Owl.

This is why i don't get into religious threads anymore.

too much flamebait, too much condescention. It goes nowhere.

the religious threads i've made are masterpieces!

What I find is that if someone accepts that God created the universe and everything, that he can do anything. So if someone believes God created the universe, then God protecting Jonah for a few days should be a snap.
BTW, this thread is total flamebait.

A lot of people say this thread is flamebait. Is the thread "Do you actually believe the Theory of Evolution?" flamebait?
