Forums - Gaming - X360 is getting better while PS3 is getting worse?

Xbox 360

- Core Model was replaced by Arcade

  Wired Controller => Wireless Controller

  No internal Memory => 512 MB internal memory

  No HDMI port => HDMI port added

  $280 => $200

- Pro Model was upgraded

  HD : 20 GB => 60 GB

  Price : $400 => $300

Xbox Live was upgraded with

- NXE

  Avatars

  Netflix

- Facebook, twitter, Hulu etc.

Games

- 360 still has the largest library of games, both overall and yearly

- 360 stole even more exclusives from ps3 (virtua fighter 5, ff13, new metall gear solid etc)

- Xbox live games have increased substantially

- Xbox 1 compability has increased (now more than 50% of original games are compatible)

- Games proved to be improving and better than/on par with ps3

PS3

Cons
- PS2 compatibility was removed

- Usb Ports were decreased from 4 to 2.

- Flash card readers were removed.

- SACD support was removed.

- Hulu support was removed.

- Lost many exclusives to 360

Pros

- Home was added but received mixed reviews.

- PSN has improved but still trails well behind Xbox Live

- Price was dropped by $100 but stays the most expensive console, and even more so in PAL regions.

- Ps3 exclusives showed somewhat better graphics than 360, and 3rd part games compare better, although 360 still has a slight overall advantage.

Let's disscuss!

Note:

Some misunderstanding here guys!

I am NOT saying PS3 is better/worse than 360. You might think that PS3 is still a better deal but you cannot deny that

a) 360 is getting better in almost all aspects
b) PS3 is getting worse at least in some aspects

Content.

Facebook, Twitter, Last FM, Netflix, Windows Media Center, Massive native movie and tv show content, digital download service of old and new 360 games, live tv courtesy of skytv, movie/show parties (of 10), 1080p resolution instant streaming...just press play. All found only on Xboxlive. How will Live ever compete with the all mighty PSN? MS should just give it up.

Im sure you can get Facebook on PS3 internet browser which allows you to use 99% of websites... Alao Vidzone is an excellent feature that you have forgotten about. Graphics are equal on the consoles, a decent advantage of PSN is that it is free and that is quite major adding up costs.

Decent summary though.

I think if the PS Cloud rumours are true, Firmware 3.0 Could make PSN catch up to XBL alot faster then you think.

You are right but I am not saying 36o is better than PS3 or vice versa. I mean 360 is getting better, and PS3 is getting worse or not improving as much as 360 overall.

I'd rather have XBox Live over PSN any day, regardless of it's cost. $50/12 months = $4.17 a month. Oh no!

Overall a fair analysis. This isn't so much as unnoticed, but rarely discussed. Usually because fellow members cannot leave their sabers at the door. On the upside its hard to imagine Sony being able to shave anything else out of their console, but I have said it before, and I will say it again. With online costs being a constant drag, and Microsoft forcing Sony to up the investment realistically it is only a matter of time before Sony will be compelled to charge for their service.

Which is what Sony must do eventually, and probably what they had planned all along. Like the proverbial drug dealer giving out the first taste for free. Microsoft is already incorporating free games like one verse a hundred into their model. Sony will have to respond eventually. Otherwise their online plan will seem vacant in comparison, and that means they will need to spend even more money.

ok smart ass, you intend to have your console for 5 years?  $50 * 5 = $250          Remember $250 could buy you a couple of games :)

Or an X360 arcade! That's what I did now I play my 360 offline and PSN is still rockin! :D

Exactly. Steroid. Some people forget or purposely miss out some costs when evauating the overall costs in comparison to other consoles, strange stuff...

@megadude/steroid
haven't you talked about playing over xbox live before? I know as your megadude persona you said you had an xbox live gamertag.
