PlayStation 3 wins in every category by far.

..except sales figures...

which is the most important category and provides the best gaming experience

Which shows what is the global tendency and preferences of gamers. Not to mention the WII... hum.

Sales is a good indicator... I'm not going to enter again in a biased discussions about price vs quality.

sales cant provide you best gaming experience, and this thread is about which console provides best gaming experience.

''Which shows what is the global tendency and preferneces of gamers''

Actually 360 is leading only because of USA. PS3 is leading in Japan even though 360 was launched before. And the gap beetwen 360 and PS3 in Others is only 1 million and it was bigger back when PS3 was launched in Others which means PS3 sold much more in less time than 360. If they were both launched at the same time PS3 would be winning for sur

If that would have been the case, MS would have change his strategy... not matter what assumptions you take, (if... if... if..then...blahblah) 360 is leading by more than 8 millions units and increasing....

To come back to the title of this thread, gaming experience : I have 25 years exp, I own both consoles, I had a PS2 in the past so for me it is the 360.

''If that would have been the case MS would have to change his strategy''

That IS the case. Nothing i said there was wrong. And MS dont need to change the strategy yet because PS3 is still too expensive for a console

wii is missing because its not HD i got you.

xbox 360 hands down.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

My PS3 provides "me" the best gaming experience:

- PS3 games
- PS2 games
- PS1 games
- Blu-ray player
- DVD player
- CD player
- Divx player
- MP3 player
- Wifi
- Free online (DLC, demos, videos, etc), multiplayer gaming
- 4 USB ports to add more USB devices for all my electronic needs
- PSP connectivity (still working on how to put PS1 games onto PSP lol)
- Friends list
- Photoalbum / slideshow feature

...i think thats bout all i mostly use my PS3 for.

The best gaming experiences are down squarely to the games IMHO. And that's going to depend on your tastes.

The consoles are just HW. Each has features than can enhance gameplay, but I'm of the view that Achievements/Torophies, etc are fairly minor elements next to the actual gameplay you experience.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

For your last sentence, I have 28 years experience, own ALL consoles, and find that they all provide valuable, worthwhile experiences. If gamers weren't so damn ungrateful this gen, they'd see that too.

Try ENJOYING the consoles folks, they were built for that purpose. Let the manufacturers duke it out in the market.

DING DING DING DING!

A winnar is you!

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

OK I have a bit more time now:

Achievements/Rewards - Does the console you own encourage you to continue playing? I really don't care too much about this but trophies are better than Achievements by a mile.

Console interface - Does the interface draw you in or do you feel lost? The XMB absolutely destroys the New Xbox Experience. The older dashboard was better but still had nothing on XMB.

The online service - Which online service keeps on delivering and meeting your needs? PS3 by far. It's free. I have not played online a single time with my 360 because of this.

Multiplatform games - For which console do you prefer to purchase Mulitiplat games? I buy my multiplatform games depending on which console they are better on. For instance I recently bought Lost Planet for 360 because of all the complaints I have heard about the PS3 version.

The library itself - Which library offers the most diverse selection of games? PS3 has the best library of games this gen by far. MGS4, LBP, Killzone 2, Uncharted, Folklore and Warhawk just to name a few.

The controller - Does the controller make the experience more worthwhile? The PS3 controller owns the 360 controler.

The exclusives - Which console boasts the best and most inovative exclusives? 4 words: Guns of the Patriots.

Leader of sony..microsoft...and nintendo...Wow, bs.

OT:......................Both are great but I prefer my Ps3.

Thanks for backing me up BladeOfGod and CGI-Quality.

Sardauk, if Sony was able to provide something close to the price point MS has this generation PS3 would currently be whiping the floor with the 360. The same can't be said for Wii because it provides the user base with a completely new gaming experience. It's fucking hilarious to see that people consider sales an indicator of the experience a console gives you. If we were to take your measurement, the original Xbox and Gamecube are both piece of shit consoles, when we all know that this is not the case in reality. PS3 absolutely destroys 360 when it comes to gaming experience IMO. The only thing that 360 has going for it is a nice line-up of exclusive games (which PS3's exclusives also outdo).

Eh, sure, I'll bite:

  • Rewards: Xbox 360.  I just feel achievements are more meaningful and better implemented.  I can earn a lot of trophies and not go up a level, but I can do the simplest thing and my game score goes right up.  Think of an MMO-- going from 35% to 45% into the next level isn't a big deal but going up a level is so you only get that mileston every now and then.  Going from 7,200 points to 7,300 still feels like a big deal so you always get that good feeling as your building up your score.  And then there's also the implementation.  Everything with the trophies just feels so sloppy-- checking them, synching them, everything.
  • Console Interface: Xbox 360.  I loved the old blades and NXE is good.  It's simple and easy to use.  I think the XMB is a good start but there are just too many sub menu's with too much stuff in them.
  • Online Service: Xbox 360.  I'll tell you the truth-- I don't care much about this one since I don't play online much.  When I have played online, it's usually on the 360 and the experience has been great.  About the only two things I can compare here is the store and the updates.  I fucking hate the PSN store, it's just confusing and a pain in the ass.  The MS marketplace on the other hand is seamlessly integrated into everything is just nice.  As for updates, even small updates over the PSN can take a long time but take very little time on the 360.
  • Multiplatform Games: Xbox 360 What can I say, multiplatform games just tend to be a little better on the 360.
  • The Library Itself: Xbox 360.  Looking at exclusives, the PS3 only has one I care about (Uncharted, maybe two if I count LBP) while the 360 has many so I suppose that makes the 360 win for me.
  • The Controller: Xbox 360.  This one is a no brainer, except for the D-Pad, the 360 controller is just incredible.  It's well weighted, buttons are easily accessable, and it fits well in your hand.  The D-Pad is an abomination but luckily most games don't require an accurate D-Pad.  The DS3 on the other hand has a great D-Pad but I've never liked the placement of the analog stick (I have big hands and my thumbs bump into each other) and the triggers are terrible.  While I can forgive a bad D-Pad since it is rarely used, the triggers I cannot forgive.
  • The Exclusives: Xbox 360.  Didn't I just answer this?  Meh, just look above.

All that said, my PS3 still gets A LOT of use because I use it as my media player.  I love watching Blu-Rays and I love how it makes my DVD's look.

THIS.
Exact same thing for me.

The Xbox360 is my GAMING console of choice right now in my living room.
My PS3 is my media player (Blu-Ray and DVD)

Best gaming experience? Xbox 360 of course.
