Forums - PC - Anyone know an Open source RTS game programmed in Java?

Hey all.

I was going to write an RTS in Java (it's the only lnguage I know and I can't be bothered learning anything else)

But then I remembered I suck at programming :P

So I figured it'd be easier to take an already functional RTS game and modify the code. So does anyone know of a Java RTS game that I can get the source code of. It doesn't have to be a great game, as long as it has the bare essentials of an RTS then I am happy.

Cheers

you should look on sourceforge

http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&words=java+rts

there are projects that you can use and learn :)

If you know Java, you pretty much know C#, and then you can utilize XNA. And there are tons of open source games for you to take a look at that are made with XNA.

Is C# really that easy to pick up? I know they're quite similar, but I'm very lazy :P

There are syntax differences, but nothing you cannot quickly pick up. The object oriented design is almost exactly the same. If you know Java, you know C#. And then you could use the amazing tool known as Visual Studio.

Its not an RTS, its a TBS, but it is open source and java based:

Still might help you I suppose with some ideas.
