Forums - General - Does Being A Hero Require You to be Utilitarian? To become unhuman?

I've played the good story in inFamous, and I'm going through Fate/Stay Night, but it seems these 2 games so far are stating that in order to become the perfect super hero, unlike our conventional image of a hero (a caring individual that's passionate and righteous), does one need to throw everything away that makes them human, emotion, and act strictly Utilitarian?

If you want to protect everyone do you have "to throw away the emotion of 'wanting to protect people'"?

Do you guys think that these games, along with a few other pieces of work, look at being a Super Hero as something tragic, and almost horific?

I mean, although inFamous didn't do the best job, they still got you attached to the characters enough to realize the tragedy of the story (in the good story line).

I'm fucking rambling now, so here's the question:

1. Do you have to practice utilitarianism to be a true superhero? For example if one prioritizes their loved ones over complete strangers, are they truly a super hero, or simply a powerful being that looks out for themselves?

2. Do you believe that in becoming a super hero, you no longer become a human?
