Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft still needs to copy wiimote.

I disagree, NATAL turns you into the controller, add on Wiimote knockoffs would destroy the very fiber of their marketing campaign.

So then how will one pull off a game such as Halo or the Conduit with pure NATAL? Forget about shooting, how will you MOVE?

Do we really need to go over this again? There were plenty of threads right after E3 where this was hashed out.

You won't. This is even a big problem if you think out of the box. In a driving game how will you push the hand brake without it being confused as a gear up/down input? How will you look back? Natal seems good to me for a Tennis game, but again, how will you do backspin and effects? How will you move you character around the court? I wanna see if Microsoft finishes to swallow the frog and pulls off a wiimotish remote or they will stick with natal only...

You people need to learn to not question things before they are finalized.  There are still many things they can change or adapt to.

In it's current state, the Sony purple wand can't let your character MOVE either.  In fact, it doesn't even have as much use as Natal OR the Wiimote.  So I guess if you want to think that there is no way they can do this, then I will say there is no way Sony can either and they will have released the worst concept of motion controls in the short history of console motion controls.

But Sony can implement buttons on the dildos. Microsoft can't do that. Natal is a camera not a controller.

Buttons don't move your character.  And Microsoft or the software publishers can program the device in whatever way they see fit.  Surely they can figure out a creative way to play some games with it.  Maybe not all, and maybe not the popular shooter, RPG, platformer genres, but that's why the standard 360 controller + Natal is the perfect combo.  Great for the Wii type motion games and great for the hardcore games

Publishers will make the game with standard controls in mind first and foremost (talking about shooters, RPGs, etc) and add support for Natal or Purple Wand later.

Yeah, they'll release a Wii Remote-like controller, eventually, don't worry.

BAM ! There it is !

I had a discussion about motion control in all 3 consoles now and that discussion is worth of a thread in here.

It was discussed how motion control has become the standart input for games... or it will be.

For the Wii that's true since launch and Nintendo is likely to slighly improve it for Wii HD.

For the PS3 not likely, the "dildo" will work as an additional peripheral but in PS4 it is likely to be dildo-only if Sony implements some buttons on the wands.

For the 360, same as PS3 for this gen but a camera itself can't replace the controller in the next gen, because it doesn't work with some game genres as arcade fighting games, some sports games, adventure games, platformers, etc...

So that made me and my friends wonder if Natal will work along a wand next gen, so it can fully replace a traditional controller in the next gen or microsoft will just stick with the 360 pad + Natal.

Thoughts?

Whats up with you guys and dildos? First Megaddue talked about Dildo now you,No one said the PS wand looked like a Dildo,it looked like an ice cream scooper.

LOL so D-pad is what? And when I said buttons I meant also analogues.

And the 360 controller can't be played with just one hand, so I'm a bit skeptical of the 360pad + Natal combo in games. At the end it might use only head tracking for viewer angle changing...

A D-Pad is a set of directional arrows.  If they add Analogues then yes it can move your character, but it won't be the favored controller for FPS/RPG genre's ect and developers will have to split the game development.  An FPS using the new Wands would play differently than the standard controller users, especially the aiming.

What I am saying is that with the 360 you can use the standard controller for FPS and other genres that they fit best, and use Natal for Wii like games.  I am not really saying they should combine the two for FPS and other genre's (Although that is a possibility; leaning, melee, for example).
