Well, that does more or less sum up how all violent video games look to the uninitiated. And it's also pretty close to how it works out, too. Yes, they do put in quite a bit more depth than that, but when you get right down to it, a lot of games with shooting are just games about killing lots of people as violently as possible. Perhaps unsurprisingly, as I haven't seen many games prominently featuring guns that did NOT involve killing people.

Well... guns ARE used to kill people... don't think people use it to scratch their heads or anything.

what are you talking about, i use a fully loaded 22 for many jobs around the house. =P

Correction: guns are traditionally thought of as a means to kill people.  However, some I certainly hope nobody would use to go on a killing spree.  Fortunately, no FPS has added a hot glue gun weapon yet (though I'm pretty sure Quake put in a nail gun).  The only FPS that comes to mind where the gun is not intended for combat purposes is Portal.  Only thing you "kill" in that game are ridiculously-easy-to-tip-over tripods.

Err... ok, so guns are things that project things? I mean, I don't know many things I wouldn't like to be had projected at me at a high velocity... those T-Shirt guns can break people's noses from what I heard.

Yeah video doesn't work for me but from the front screen I can see the thread's topic... I agree that games tend to be a bit too much about the gore (I believe movies too unfortunately). That is why I liked the thread about the new law in germany....

There is a way to depict death for entertainment, and that is not by being sadistic....
