Strange... I tried the site just now... Here's what happened...
I went to it, and searched for several "mainstream" bands (Metallica, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, ect) and only found a preview of 1 Metallica song - a live bootleg of Whiplash, Streaming only, no way to download, or even buy... But after I searched "Green Day", all I found was Karaoke and tributes, and even that wasn't free download, it was stream only, with PAID download... Then, on the side bar's related search, it had an article about Green Day streaming songs from their (bleh) new album... So I clicked on it, and it said that all of the songs were on there for streaming before the album's release... So I googled "Green Day We7", and found a playlist... but when I clicked on it, it was just previews, and there was no possible way to download... Oddly though, I couldn't even find those previews without looking at someone else's playlist... I looked and it said that he was from the UK. I went to wikipedia, and typed in "we7"... And discovered that apparently not only has this site moved on mostly to streaming, but most of the content is UK exclusive... : - (
"we7 is a free, advertising supported, music streaming service, with up to 3.5m tracks available for streaming in the UK, with content from all four major record labels, and most independent distributors. Most tracks and albums are also available to purchase from the in-site store. Outside the UK, it has limited content, but there's some free downloadable MP3 files that have a short audio advert prepended to the beginning of the file."
......
"In October 2008, the site shifted focus to music streaming[5], initially with content from Sony BMG[6], including a change of design that integrated a persistent music player in the page, allowing the music to continue to play while users browse the site."

Sadly, being in the US where the free downloads are not available, I don't think this is my solution...

Ah well, thanks for at least trying though...
