Forums - Microsoft - The best wireless adapter (soon Xbox Live Gold member here)

I just found my month free of LIVE GOLD that I got a while ago when my 360 came back from repairs. I want to know THE BEST wireless adapter for Xbox Live, because my computer isn't near my gaming area AT ALL.

Thanx much

hmm sorry to rain on your parade but there's only one wireless adapter that works with the 360.  And it costs at least $70 if you find a good deal on it.

Dammit. I thought for sure there were separate brands on them. Thanks for the feedback bro.

Microsoft makes almost all of the accessories for the 360 so they can sell them at extremely high prices, the only wireless adapter for it was $99 the last time I checked.

Thats not quite correct there john, there are others he can purchase the convert his ethernet port to a wireless.

Check this:

I'm pretty sure he's talking about a wireless adapter so he can play his 360 without hooking it up to an ethernet cord.

There are ways to get around paying for the official 360 adapter but they're pretty complicated from what I remember. Search around Google and I'm sure you can find how to do it.

Ok i looked at it some more.  And i was wondering, does that actually work for the 360?  That would be cool if it did.

I'm pretty sure it is an adapter, since i had one on the Xbox.

I found wireless nowhere near as reliable as a wired connection but, like you, have my computer too far from my 360 for a straight wired ethernet connection to be practicable. After trying out a few different alternatives, I settled on the Netgear HD Homeplug solution and haven't looked back. I don't know how it would perform if you live in a flat or apartment though.
