Forums - Microsoft - Halo 3 Multiplayer BS

I recently got a message from one of my friends on xboxlive saying something along the lines of, "Halo multiplayer is bullshit im going back to gears."

I thought about it, during GoW I think the times I said what the fuck that was bull shit. How did I die. Were very rare. Maybe once every 3 games. In Halo, I end of saying wtf 1/3 of the times I die. Who knows maybe I just suck at Halo? I've always been decent at fps this is the first one thats really frustarting.

Thoughts?

Also anyone wanna play some games, name is causalityx on xboxlive.

They're just completely different games. Gears is more of a methodical, strategy-based, round-based type of gameplay.

Halo, on the other hand, is an amped-up, run-and-gun, never stop moving type of experience. You're bound to die a lot more often when that type of chaos is happening around you.

Personally, I prefer the round-based style of Gears but I also enjoy Halo quite a bit. They're both great games that offer different experiences; people are bound to like one more than the other.

You can't hate a game just because it can get frustrating....in ResistanceFOM you get LAARKed (remote control bazooka missile) like 3 out of 5 times you die. It's a one hit kill and you can stop it and re-aim it in mid-flight. It also comes with two shots and can hit multiple people at once. I almost never die unless I get LAARKed. But using the LAARK on other people is fun as hell, you have to try to strike a balance.

Also, you should see that game on 40 player deathmatch in the smallest level available for that number of people. You die like every three seconds. The fucked up thing is you can die like that and still win.

Edit----I should add that you almost NEVER, maybe 1 in 15 times, actually SEE the person who LAARKed you or even the LAARK itself.

I have not played Halo 3 yet, however I was deeply saddened by the direction of multi player from Halo 1 to Halo 2. Is the trend continuing? Maybe someone who played Halo 1 originally can give me an insight.

Numbers: Checker Players > Halo Players

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.

What don't you like about the multiplayer in 2 facher because for me throughout the series the multiplayer just keeps getting better and better. The thing that disappoints me is beatdowns, its way to easy to get a beatdown kill if you have the assault rifle and the sword is alot slower in this one i think.
I get so pissed off when I unload a whole clip, beat down and still die somehow thats some major bullshit in my mind.

edit: shotty sniper is the worst game type ever, not because I'm bad with snipes but because its a huge campfest and isn't fun at all.  Snipers have dissappointed me in this game also.

Conversion mode in Resistance sucks for the same reason, there's a death limit, 6 or 8 deaths, and everybody just hides and kills anyone who actually tries to find anyone else. Usually with the sniper. I don't like to quit, but I fucking hate conversion, and I quit when it comes up. Because it's freaking random.

Hrmm. I kind of know what you mean, but as rocketpig said that's just the type of game it is. It's more fast paced "kill-em-all" and you are going to die more in it than other games. However, I have to say that in my 10 hours of playing Halo 3 multiplayer I never lost a match hehe. This is because I always played with my pro-gamer friends (in Team or CTF) who just destroy people. It was fun, but I too prefer Gears style multiplayer. I like a more controlled environment where strategy is of more importance than combat.

I really haven't noticed any BS in halo 3. Maybe while I was playing a game I thought damn what the hell just happened but then after I checked the replay it cleared everything up. If it wasn't for halo having the videos saves I might feel the same way you do but you should definately look at them they clear up alot. Like that grenade you didn't notice that blows up behind you when your in the middle of a fight.

@ Samyaza I thought about doing that, I think more of my troubles come from the beat downs. I know I hit the button before I died yet, I died. Seems that 200ms is driving me nuts.

Get in a match where you can get the timing down. I'm assuming you both beatdown, and you're the one that gets killed. Keep in mind the melee has a bit of a lunge and things may improve.

You spawn with a weapon that can actualy kill people, although its not the pistol/instant killing machine.

Weapon balance is far better. Snipers isn't rigged thanks to autoaiming bullshit and hitboxes are significantly better. Grenades do less splash damage but throw farther - a lot more like CE. You also jump higher like CE.

Overall, it seems like bungie made an effort to replicate some of the things from CE multiplayer, but without making the pistol like it should be :( However, they did add some cool new stuff that almost makes up for it.
