Forums - Microsoft - The PS3 related turmoil amongst 360 users

As far as the video quality of Blu-ray vs downloaded/streamed video, the vast majority of consumers don't get excited about the increased resolution, any more than they did with a lot of other "definitely better" technologies, such as smart toasters, 4-head VCRs, Quadraphonic amps, etc. Most consumers, including those buying movies, just want them to look okay, be readily available, and have a low rental/purchase price.

I fit in the category of videophile, I guess (I ended up collecting 90+ laser disc movies because they looked so much better than their VHS counterparts and tended to have letterbox versions), but I realize I'm in the minority in this.

Oh great more propaganda.

The fact he'll never acknowledge anything and if bent like NJ5 has done several times he'll just pop up a week later repeating the same rebutted lines is proof enough he's not in to talk and discuss, just to evangelise. The only positive thing you'll hear him say is he liked Kameo, which is his canned response anytime he's questioned about his impartiality.

Banned gaffers are posting on evilbore, but course he wouldnt... the sort of unmoderated nature of that forum means they'd laugh him out in less than a week.

Just a few months ago axe-grinding posters like Gebx or MikeB were kept in check by the mod team, now it's a free-for-all trolling extravaganza. And Megaman gets a ban because of his Leader sketch. Rubbish.

??

Why am I being associated with MikeB?  Whenever I accidently say something wrong and I'm corrected, I admit it in my post.

Ps - I've only been banned 3 times in over 2 1/2 years... and I'm not sure what you mean by "axe-grinding posters"...

LOL what have I been missing??? Is that why the campaign was so short?

Halo 3 was not only short, it was also repetitive. It should be easy using repetitive measures to make the game twice as long even on a DVD.

The Blu-Ray advantage more relates to assets. You can have more varierty or opt for higher quality of assets. If you don't want to resort to repetitive measures, you can have a bigger game with similar quality assets on Blu-Ray than on DVD, but of course that means more game design investments as well.

MikeB...

Exactly when did you have time to play through Halo 3?

Would the system not require to stream alot more?.

Would a Data transfer disc for 360 games(Yes MikeB like Forza 3) not null the blu-ray advantage?

If fact would it not increase effeciency by cutting streaming and load times by having the CPU draw data from hard memory?

No answers for me MikeB?

MikeB got banned from NeoGAF. Methinks we should follow suet.

And do you remember what I was banned for?

For stating I prefer the PSN over XBL (due to being free for multi-player, dedicated servers allowing for more simultaneous players and better performance amongst similar games, free Playstation Home, not liking the XBL avatars, additional free features like VidZone, etc).

This is mere opinion and I stated this merely because many extreme XBox 360 fans want to push their opinion of the XBL being superior as a undisputable fact.

You know you re the only person I know that has less problems with PSN than live. 3 people I know who own both, get disconnected regularly o PSN mid game. 3-4 times in an hour. The Live games on the same internet connection can go 2 or 3 hours without a single loss of connection. And it's common knowledge that Live is in a league of it's own.

Also their is several NeoGaf people that know you got banned because of you ties with Sony. And trolling stealthily to increase your bank balance.

Besides price and dedicated servers, XBL is superior and that is a fact.

That's the problem with extremists like you, it's a fact, no room for discussion, the end.

It's not that simple at all, for example I don't have much (if any) use for cross game chatrooms while playing PS3 games. Why would this be better than the laptop I'm already using in my living room? Most often I don't like to be disturbed at all and have actually disabled instant message notifications on my PS3.

Another example would be LittleBigPlanet, there's no similar game on the 360 providing such a wealth of amazing user created content. That just the tip of the iceberg why one can prefer the PSN offerings.

2 more exclusive examples of XBL's superiority over PSN are its Indie Games, providing such a wealth of amazing indie-developed games, and the 1vs100 game show. That's just the tip of the iceberg why one can prefer the XBL offerings xD

After having the Game freeze 3 times in one hour I left my friends house and never played KZ2 again....

MIKEB...It's ok for you to prefer PSN...But free online on PSN gaming is making companies bleed money(Mainly sony) and if molifying Digital developers so much Sony is offering them money to develop for PSN.....Why do people have to pay tax to buy DLC's over PSN and not over XBL?

Most agree there are PS3 exclusives providing technically (and artistically) well beyond what 360 games have provided so far.

Well beyond? Are you kidding me? Beyond maybe I can accept but well beyond I cannot accept. There are multiplat games which look awesome on both systems and give the PS3 exclusives a run for their money.

Artistically the Xbox is behind compared to the best of the PS3 I agree but that's more to do with Microsoft than the hardware. A lot of Xbox games are American (like Microsoft) and without sounding arrogant, Europe and Japan are far older and mature civilisations than the US and this shows in everyday mass and niche culture. Think Sony exclusives then think Europe/JPN developers.

I definitely agree with paragraph two.  Paragraph three makes me groan.  Yes, that's definitely arrogance... I would consider Oblivion to be an artistic creation on the same level of Fable II... and I loved the artistic expressions, however different, for different reasons.  Unless Rembrant, Picasso, etc. are doing the artwork for the European games, then I reject the argument that having an "older" culture means the games will be more artistic.

Heh, just had to point this out. I love how people are toting the 1080P movie downloads, and yet, claim that Blu-Ray is not really that much better than a DVD. However, the other side of the isle has the same level of hypocrisy in saying that XBL is not better than PSN all the while toting how good Blu-Ray is. Blu-ray is better as far as picture quality goes, however, a good up converting DVD player will look almost as good, and when you have a ton of DVDs, and don't want to spend a ton of money replacing them with Blu-Ray, an up converter is the better value.

@Mike B Are you seriously trying to argue that Forza3 has two disks? Technically it doesn't, it has one disk, and a bunch of DLC.

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

While the content on the second Forza disc will act like a DLC sorta...the truth is that it is MS's first attempt at putting Data transfer disc with a game on the console market...I think it is a smart move....I would want MS also to add a 20 gb HDD to the arcade SKU before or by the time NATAL comes around...And support further games with Data Transfer disc...I mean the effects would be outstanding....Better load time, compresion rates and performance would skyrocket.....I mean even down to having extra disc carry data for CPU actions that the CPU would draw from the HDD memory freeing up even more internal memory for the GPU!

Didn't GT2 come on 2 disc?
