As far as the video quality of Blu-ray vs downloaded/streamed video, the vast majority of consumers don't get excited about the increased resolution, any more than they did with a lot of other "definitely better" technologies, such as smart toasters, 4-head VCRs, Quadraphonic amps, etc. Most consumers, including those buying movies, just want them to look okay, be readily available, and have a low rental/purchase price.
I fit in the category of videophile, I guess (I ended up collecting 90+ laser disc movies because they looked so much better than their VHS counterparts and tended to have letterbox versions), but I realize I'm in the minority in this.
