Forums - Microsoft - The PS3 related turmoil amongst 360 users

@ vaio

Here's what I wrote back then:

PS3 warranty through dealers is 3 years here in the EU (edit: 2 years bare minimum in the EU, buy here in the Netherlands and its at least 3 years for a PS3).

The guy slightly modified the lawyer example text I quoted and delivered the letter to Media Markt. He got a brand new PS3 together with a bundled game (funnily he's also covered by full warranty again!).

I don't understand this turmoil from you.

Bit early in the year for damage control MikeB, Ghostbusters finally hit home that leading on the PS3 will not fix it's terrible dev support requiring too many man hours to get equivalent or better results.

On the subject of games that have actually been released that rival the 360 seriously in most 360 fans opinions is MGS4, Unchartered and Killzone 2. Thats just 3 games that stand out and each one had plenty of time and money thrown at them that no third party will do. Your argument may have more merit if the 360 is unable to reproduce Final Fantasy XIII at equivalent levels, the only exception I reckon is video will not be encoded to 1080p which for the vast majority of users is not an issue anyway. Finally those 3 titles I mentioned above are not "well beyond" titles availble on the 360 either.

Finally I'm pretty sure PAL DVD's are encoded to 576p aren't they, so for a lot of users they don't watch 480p at all, or did you skip that fact because as usual it made your argument less relevant. When you compare 576p to 720p the difference isn't so great, at least thats what the PS3 fans have told us regarding Ghostbusters resolution drop (funny how its not only 360 owners being inconsistant now is it).

Lastly how does such a blatantly troll thread remain open on this site from what is a reknowned Sony fan with a vested interest in misinformation, no offence MikeB it's just my opinion on your conduct.

Ratchet and Clank Future:  Tools of Destruction, Little Big Planet, Folklore, and Heavenly Sword also all blow away any similar games on the 360 and The Last Guardian will as well.

In your opinion of course, the only one on that list I'd maybe agree on is Heavenly Sword maybe although I've not played Ninja Gaiden 2 for comparison.  Of course I still think the term "blow away" is hopelessly exagerrated.

Name two 3d platformers on 360 that are at Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank Future level.  Name one action adventure rpg on the 360 that is at Folklore's level (it received a 9 from PlayMagazine USA and a 9 from IGN), and no game on 360 comes anywhere near being the artistic triumph that The Last Guardian will be.  The most that one can say about the artistic merits of Gears and Alan Wake is that at best they have about as much artistic vision as the  typical Saturday night movie on the American Sci-Fi Channel.

So far this generation as far as straight up rpgs go, Mass Effect is simply the best out there. Nothing else is even in the same ballpark. Fable 2 and Folklore were fun but both had their issues. Folklore would have been much better without the 6 axis yanking required. I did like some of the creature abilities. Fable 2 spell charging system was annoying. Sacred 2 is a fun action rpg lite game but Sacred 2 is multi plat. The same can be said about ToV and Eternal Sonata being or on the way to being multi plat.

Valkyria Chronicles and MGS are the games on my PS3 that I would recomend without hesitation. Valkyria is actually one of the best tactical rpgs in a long time. Heavenly sword is quite fun but way too short. I find Heavenly sword hard to recomend when the average player will beat the game in under 15 hours.

1.Links please and not the letter you tried to pass of as proof last time.

2.Links to the 3 year warranty in EU or netherlands (there is a link in that thread that proves me right and you wrong)

3.The minimum is 1 year warranty extended to 2 by EU regulation and not three.

4. How is it possible to have a 3 year electronic warranty on the PS 3 and not on the 360 (besides your failed argument about inferior hardware and bad design comment).

It is consumer LAW.  Why cant you get this?

That's what I pointed out and it has been very helpful to this person.

IMO 1 thankful PS3 user >>> 10 upset 360 fanboys.

This thread reeks of fail, and the smell gets worse every time someone points out that "x console has nothing that compares to y game that isn't even out yet for z console."

All that have said this are f*cking retarded beyond all hope.

NO NO NO

you continue to say PS3 3 year WARRANTY through retailers.

It is not a warranty. A warranty is issued by a manufacturer as a contract with the purchaser.

Here in the Netherlands we distinguish between manufacturer warranty (fabrieksgaranty, used by retailers for their PR) and warranty by law (wettelijke garantie). The wettelijke garantie can never be limited by fabrieksgaranty or otherwise advertised retailer warranty.

The consumer authority in the Netherlands points out that people sometimes buy extra warranty, which in reality is already covered by warranty by law (you just have to point out it used the product in accordance to the manual):

But that is through the RETAILER!!!!

So it applies to all products from all manufacturers.

That's what I said from the very start of any related warranty discussion.

It's really funny as I pointed this out so many times here at VGChartz!

I said so many times, don't call Sony. Approach the retailer as they sold you a product, not Sony (they are indirectly involved, issues will be dealt with between retailer and manufacturer)!

Experts say a minimal life expectance for the PS3 is 3 years, so that can be used in letters as evidence. For the 360 I don't know the life expectance, neither experts nor Microsoft commented on this AFAIK.

Most agree there are PS3 exclusives providing technically (and artistically) well beyond what 360 games have provided so far.

Well beyond? Are you kidding me? Beyond maybe I can accept but well beyond I cannot accept. There are multiplat games which look awesome on both systems and give the PS3 exclusives a run for their money.

Artistically the Xbox is behind compared to the best of the PS3 I agree but that's more to do with Microsoft than the hardware. A lot of Xbox games are American (like Microsoft) and without sounding arrogant, Europe and Japan are far older and mature civilisations than the US and this shows in everyday mass and niche culture. Think Sony exclusives then think Europe/JPN developers.
