what!?

What I said.  I want to see one game on 360 that has a deeperplot  than the average run of the mill weekend movie on the Sc-Fi Channl.  So far, I haven't seen one and most of the games on the 360 could be Sci-Fi Channel movies in movie form.  Certainly, Gears of War doesn't have much more of a story than Starship Troopers and Alan Wake is just about like your run of the mill horror film with maybe a bit of influence from John Carpenter's Mouth of Madness.

On the other hand a game like The Last Guardian (and even Heavy Rain seems closer to a David Lynch film than your average horror film and the parts with the children playing that I've seen in the vids seem like nods towards Fritz Lang's M.) seem to have deeper artistic aspirations.

Is this a serious post? You're judging games that have not even released yet and making comparisons to make what kind of point?

How is Kill Zone or Resistance or any FPS on the PS3 any different from Starship Troopers? And what does the PS3 have to compare to Alan Wake?

Sony "supporters" sure are spooky.

Killzone wouldn't be any better.  But The Last Guardian would at least it would be something different than just another space war movie.

lol, so PS3 exclusives are...movie level quality, in their storytelling?

Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid 4 are IMO worthy.

Mass Effect

I played it, I thought it was overhyped (besides the technical issues). BioShock is IMO much better, but in hindsight also overhyped despite being a good game.

(For the record, when released I publically stated BioShock, Mass Effect and Lost Planet looked great judging from the trailers and said I wanted them on the PS3, in hindsight IMO all 3 were overhyped originally)

From what I've been hearing. Uncharted is short enough to be a movie. So, maybe that's what the developers were going for.

But I've never had to pay $60 for a movie.

You have been misinformed. Maybe you were thinking of Heavenly Sword, that was a bit short with some of the slick movie-like cutscenes.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Lots of games on the 360, PS3 and Wii are not just another space war movie. So, I am not really getting your point?

I understand you are attempting to discredit the 360's catalogue. You are just not doing a very good job.

6-8 hours for a videogame? 10 hour max? On the amazing Blu-Ray? and with the amazing cell? That's it?

ugh, really?  Uncharted is movie level storytelling? really?  Come on, how is it any better than gears, it's a b movie action flick at best.  Straight to dvd release.  Not saying it is a bad game, because it is really good, but it's greatness has nothing to do with it's story.

As for mgs4, yep, movie level quality, which is pobably why the game plays more like a movie than a game. :)

Also, MikeB, you seem to be extremely critical of xbox 360 games and extremely forgiving of ps3 games.  Course, you couldn't be MikeB if you were any other way.  Everything must fit into a perfect ps3 world domination agenda.  I think you should get a 360 MikeB, you might actually find all your hate is meaningless.

Last of all, this thread probably shouldn't be in the microsoft forums.  The mere fact that it is just means you are trying to troll the microsoft fanboys instead of rallying the sony fans.

nah, uncharted is 15 to 20 hours, which is about right for that type of game.  MikeB is right, you are probably thinking of heavenly sword.

neither Cell or blu-ray are responsible for the game being short, that was the developers choice under their budget and dead line, however, blu-rays capacity would have allowed for a much longer game to have been created if the developers had the time and money to creat all the extra content with out needing to worry to much about running out of room....the Cell, well that's just the processor that has absolutly nothing todo with the length of a game, so be careful there cuz your stepping into trolling land, and once your over you'll be snipered down and banned.

Well, 1) My friend beat the game within 9 hours and I do not really consider him to be too hardcore.

and 2) If you do a quick google search, I am sure you will find others who have commented on beating the game within 6-8 hours.

I have not played the game myself, so I cannot tell you the run time. My point is...It can be completed anywhere from 6 - 10 hours. Which I consider to be rather short for Blu-Ray technology.

Actually, you are proving my point. Why didn't the developers take advantage of the amazing blu-ray potential? Especially, considering the game is PS3 exclusive? And your threats of being "sniped" and being "banned" do not threaten me. Just something to keep in mind in the future (I respect VGChartz, but I do not find my behavior to be offensible).

I appreciate the fact that Microsoft did not integrate HD-DVD or Blu-ray into the 360. Increased capacity means more resources/higher expectations...which translates to higher costs. It's good that Microsoft chose DVD.

again blu-ray tech has nothing todo with a games length, blu-ray is just has a very large capacity which developers are free to use or not use depending on the game they are creating.
