Forums - Sony - Rumour: GT5 - 27th November 2009 release in UK

Play.com have a tendency of putting a plausable random date in the future as a 'holding' date for preorders.

I wouldn't read that much into it. I expect it this year in October myself.

Hmm, pie.

Around the Network

I thought after last year with alot of games eating into eat others sales that companies claimed to have "learned their lesson" and decided not to release heavy hitters on top of each other...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

If the head producer said the game is ready to release then GT5 is not far from release.

the same head producer was always saying that GT is the best sim and yet he wants to implement Rubber Bend Effect straight from arcade games like Outrun so.... not to mention GT Portable situation.

Errr... what? Would you please explain, I don't quite understand this.

in episode 32 of ISR
they mentioned that during interview with Yamauchi he mentioned that they will add Rubber Bend Effect to the game: if you will be driving first and there will be 2 second difference(at least in GT5) between you and second place, your car will automatically slow down and 2nd players car will drive faster - kinda ridiculous in a racing sim. Yamauchi also said that ferraris won't have damage system which kinda confirmed damage in GT5, but it's still kinda weird if some cars would have damage and some would not.

I don't know what does the stuff you said have anything to do with the release date.

The rubber band effect is for online race only and it's already in the prologue.
Yes people don't like it and I expect there will be an option to turn it off.
And it's one of the reasons that I don't race online often. Time trail is where all the fun for me.

Have you ever played GT5P?

IIRC the rubber band effect was removed on one of the Prologue updates quite a while ago.  Anyhow, if this is left as an option in the final GT5 it's all fine isn't it?  That won't make it less of a sim, in the same way the rewind option on FM3 will not make it less of a sim provided we are given the option to block it.  Hope you understand this better now.

yeah, but from the way they said it it was like RBE will be integral part of some/all online races - it's good for noob's, but not so good for the rest. Turn10 have done a good job with rewind thing since you can't post your time if you will use it(well you can, but people will know imidiately that you were cheating).

I think I didn't succeed.

It's ok mate, another day.
