That makes absolutely no sense, try reseting default settings or restore your system. Make sure you back up your gamesaves though
then call Sony and pay $150 to get it fixed, cause if a system reset doesn't fix it you are screwed.

I'm assuming you already power cycled. There isn't much more you can do. You can hold the power button down until it beeps like 3 times, but I believe that only resets the outputs to the lowest level so any TV will display something.
You can also call tech support, and I'm sure they will run you through power cycling and all that crap. They should run you through all your local options, except the really stupid ones like the "hot towel" fix for RROD.

Never faced that problem, and I maybe shooting in the dark, but maybe your Hard Drive is completely loaded and the games can't save their temporary files allowing them to play.
A friend of mine had the same problem. Open up your PS3 and clean it, get all that dust out. Also you need to use a cutip, and CAREFULLY... clean the eye.
