Headline - "Hossa signs one year deal to the Penguins for better chance at stanley cup championship"

Was wondering when someone would state something like that...mentioned him for that purpose. Oh Hossa, wonderfull for endless critisism .

To quote the Yahoo Puck Daddy Blog from the Red Wings Eulogy -

"Marian went chasing a Cup last summer like a drunken cougar at a wedding, only to watch his beloved run off with the best friend who he'd knocked out of the way for the bouquet. Hossa's playoff performance reminded me of myself and my method for meeting women. Basically stand around and hopefully someone else will do the work for you, and you can just pick up the prize."

LMAO!

Hopefully Tavares drops to the sixth pick so the Coyotes can get him!

Pheonix is still a team

I think "team" might be a tad generous at this point.

I hear the White Sox owner is interested in buying the team and working on them in Pheonix. I think it would be stupid to move them to Toronto like the other guy. I mean I'm pretty sure Toronto already has an established fan base. Why fight over fans being so close? Its silly to me. But then again... moving from Winnipeg to Pheonix seemed silly to me too.

Yeah, what's that guy's name.......Bruckheimer (sp)?

I personally prefer it if they went back to Winnipeg. The reasons for leaving were because of a crappy arena, and poor corporate support. They have a state of the art arena now, although I'm not sure of the corporate support (but it can't be any worse than the situation in Phoenix). I'm all in favour to "Make it seven,".........but not Hamilton.

Being a Penguins fan, game 7 was one of the most wonderful things I have had the pleasure of witnessing. Ovie got the MVP, Evgeni should have (biased?) Blackhawks could be contenders for years to come, I really like that Toews kid. New Jersey sucks, so does Datsyuk. Hossa was placed on suicide watch this last Thursday, blaming "Mental Distress" Pens might actually make it all the way back to the Finals next year. Biggest challenge will be the Caps. Free Agency will start on July 1st, it could be pretty crazy.

I currently reside under the London Bridge.

Does anyone know what I did with my hat?

I wouldn't mind having the Coyotes in the same place, that means the Sharks have a team they play against 6 times a year that is really close for easy travel and wouldn't be to hard to achieve 8-12 points from out of 6 games.

If they move that means (like for example Eastern Canada somewhere) that would entail re-doing the Western & Eastern Conferences, as well as the Divisions. Who would get moved to the Pacific Division? Vancouver?

That Was Left-Handed

Xbox Live: Spire VII

Playstation 3 Network: Spire_VII

With the assumption being that Phoenix moves to Winnipeg, this is onw way I'd redo it. Eliminate the conferences. No Eastern and Western Conferences, cuz let's face it.....half the teams in the west are really east/central. I'd put all the teams into 3 team divisions.

Divisions:

Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton
San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim
Winnipeg, Minnesota, Chicago
Colorado, Dallas, St. Louis
Ottawa, Montreal, Boston
New Jersey, New York (R), New York (I)
Detroit, Toronto, Buffalo
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington
Columbus, Nashvill, Carolina
Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Florida

Games split up into:

16 games against each team in your division (8 games per team)
42 games against 7 other divisions (2 games per team nets you a home and home against every team in the NHL)
24 games against 2 other division (4 games per team)
82 games total

Playoffs:
Division winners make the playoffs guaranteed, while there are 6 "wild card" teams which make it based on points. Rankings of these 16 teams are done strcitly by points, so you could have a dvision winner in #16. Teams pair off #1-16, #2-15, etc. or the Swedish Elite League system could be adopted, where the top 4 teams select their first round opponent. For example, #1 could select #11 because their starting goalie got injured in the last week of the season. #2 could pick #5, because they beat them 8 times during the season. Whatever 8 teams remain, they would be ranked by points, and the highest and lowest pair off.

Cross country road trips would be early in the year, and they would be big ones (7-8 games) since players are fresher at the beginning and wouldn't be as fatigued by the road trip. Also, before and after this trip the team would have 2 days to rest. I'd totally eliminate back to back games. There's enough days in the season where teams don't have to play back to back games, and it reduces the risk of players getting injured.

With respect to rivals, most of these divisions have at least one close rivalry, and a rivalry gets reborn (Toronto-Detroit). There are 2 divisons without any rivalries (Winnipeg, Minnesota, Chicago and Colorado, St. Louis, Dallas) but with 8 games against each team, rivalries should develop quickly. And, anyhow, they still play at least 2 games against their other rivals. Also, to increase the formation of the rivalries, I'd put the majority of games (4-5) against each team in your own division within the last 3 weeks. If your team doesn't make the playoffs, you're really going to be pissed off at the other teams.

With the 24 games against 2 other divisions, you could make it so that teams play against the same division every year, or you could change them around (I'm in favour of changing them around).

Darryl looks like he's going to sign younger brother to coach the Flames. Imagine if you have to fire the guy for missing the playoffs or something. That would be an awkward Christmas the next year.

This years HoF inductees were announced. Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Luc Robataille and Brian Leetch (also Lou Lamoriello in the builder's category).

One of the greatest captains of all time, one of the most prolific goal scorers of all time, the highest scoring left winger of all time and arguably the greatest American defenseman of all time (and Lou Lamoriello whose not too shabby a GM). That's a pretty damn good class.

Kinda surprised Montreal fired Don Lever, he was highly talked of and was even called to the bench at the end of the season. Doug Jarvis is gone too, I'm glad Muller is still around.

Montreal needs to something here, we have like 8 players under contract. And I really hope it's not the Sedins Gainey is after.
