Some interesting news out of the Sharks camp today -
- Both Evgeni Nabokov and Patrick Marleau say they have not been asked by Wilson to drop the no-trade clauses in their contracts. But Nabokov said he would if the GM requested it.
- "If the organization wants me to leave, I will leave,” Nabokov said. “I would never stay with an organization that didn’t want me."
- Marleau, who has been a lightning rod for criticism, said he and GM Doug Wilson have talked about whether he should remain the team’s captain.“We’ve discussed some things and I’m waiting to see how that unfolds,” he said. “But I’ve told Doug that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get this team to the next level.”
- DW on the lack of big moves so far - “We didn’t get Joe Thornton on July 1. We’ve done two of the biggest deals in the league in the last five years with Thornton and (Dan) Boyle. We got fair contracts on both of them. We kept our powder dry because we knew they were specific players we wanted. It took us a year-and-a-half to get Joe Thornton and well over a year to get Danny Boyle. You want to get the right people for the right contract.”"
I'm liking Patrick Marleau more & more, i'd like him to be the captain but he's saying the right things
