Gaborik to the Rangers. Sigh. Montreal, you just had to take Gomez off their hands, didn't you?

Well, I don't think one solitary scoring threat among twelve forwards will catapult them past the Pens anyway.

Speaking of the Pens, we get Mike Rupp. Eh, he's cheap and gritty, but we have a glut of bottom-six guys, and still need a backup goalie, another D-man, and a winger for Malkin.

I'm hearing 7.5 per year, Cactus.

Yeah, it is 7.5m. Damn TSN edited their article after I read 5.75m. That price sounds much more realistic.

It's a little high (but hasn't every contract been a little high?) NYR has money in the bank, though, and desperately needs offense.

Gionta to MTL, 5 yrs, 25m.

Damn, my wishlist of wingers is rapidly shrinking. Sullivan, Knuble, Gionta...Maybe Afiogenev?

I wonder if this means that Kovalev is done in MTL..? They're spending so much on these big contracts that when it comes down to filling out the rest of the roster, or getting Kovalev back, I think that they pretty much have to go with the former.

Hmm, I really thought that Gaborik was coming here to Vancouver. Oh well, 7.5 million is not something that I would pay for him. 7.5 Million is fair pay, if he's healthy. If he's injured a lot, this contract will not be worth it to NYR in the end.

And will Sather ever learn? He goes for these large term+money contracts every summer, and it doesn't seem to work out. I wonder who's going to bail him out next summer?

Dude it's the Rangers...those larger term+money contracts are a force of habit...as they say, old habits die hard

That Was Left-Handed

Xbox Live: Spire VII

Playstation 3 Network: Spire_VII

Wild replace Gaborik with Havlat, 30 Million for 6 years. Less skill, just as injury prone, but less money.

Wow. Montreal sure added a lot of skill today, but they are lacking in size. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, especially with a defensive style coach.

This really is going to be a new look team next year.
