Forums - Gaming - A Factual Article everyone should read.

Everyone INCLUDING me nedds to stop with the fanboy graphics over graphis BS. I and others are adding to this site being a fanboy borefest.

Here is a factual article that shows at the end where the info comes from. To give you an idea Sources include IBM, Sony, M$, ATI, NVidia among others. So many people do not know the truth about PS3 or 360. Should really read this if your interested in graphics and accelerating AI etc in games. This article is long, but easy to understand and purely factual. It rips through all the BS PR from M$ and Sony. DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE.

Here's the opening statement:

PS3 vs 360… 360 vs PS3… is a very touchy subject as everyone is aware I’m sure. Before this article gets underway its important that everyone keep in mind that neither of these 2 consoles is weak by any stroke of the imagination. Both are very powerful and significant upgrades over their current generation counterparts such as the PS2 or Xbox and as always it’s about the games. What it TRULY boils down to for the vast majority of people out there is that they don’t care about the specs of a console. All most people care about is “How good are the games available for it?” So I want it to be understood immediately that by no means is this article meant to be some sort of indication of which of the two consoles will end up coming out on top. Nor is this article meant to, in any shape or form, change anyone’s mind about which console they decide to purchase. This is simply an article intended to inform people about both machines and in doing so there will of course be comparisons between the 2 machines, but they will be facts. With all of that said lets get down to business shall we?

11 pages, huh? Okay.......

*packs lunch and prepares to take the challenge*

Wish me luck!

At four pages, I started getting really sleepy. What I've gathered thus far is that specs can be misleading, and that both consoles are powerful for different reasons (but neither is as powerful as they claim to be). I'll read more later. I just worked a 12 hour night shift, and I'm at risk of falling asleep without comprehending the article. Plus, my supplies ran out.

It's worth a read. You can then determine just who really hasn't got a clue. Even I realised I was wrong on some stuff.

even you!!??

LOL ;)

To anyone daunted by the length of the article, I'll say that what I read thus far is very well written. Don't let the size of it intimidate you. It's interesting stuff.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

A word of warning: that article dates back to November 2006.

While I could only find a few troubles with the "factual" parts of it (eg, I don't think it's true that the 10MB EDRAM on the Xenos is enough to have HDR+4xAA for free, unless you go sub-HD like in Halo 3), the speculations about how much the potential of the CPUs and GPUs can be tapped are naturally quite outdated, as the info about the memory footprint of the PS3 OS, that has been reduced meanwhile.

Just marking so I can read when i get home. Anything that has selnor admitting he was wrong means i'll probably find stuff I was wrong about also. So it has to be good.
