Forums - Gaming - All violent video games to be banned in Germany

This seems very harsh, but it will probably show that it won't help. Games will be imported, or pirated. There will probably be another 'shooting' in the future.
There will always be 'sick' people, you can't stop this with banning violent games, movies or even books.

And i just can't think of any words to say to the guy who just said: germans try to wash the blood off their hands... That's just... i don't know... sick...

^^sounds about the time then to form the VVGLF (Violent Video Games Liberation Front)

potential slogan: Violence on our TV sets keeps it off our streets!

It does make sense though why support better mental care for disturbed people or ban guns that were linked to the crime but ban violent video games based on the fact that they were played by the killer.

Germany already has horrible self-defense laws.  Banning guns further would just make things even worse.

By making this law they are pretty much promoting piracy.

Rule #1: Americans care more about their freedom than their safety.

Any good American would rather die than have the government be able to ban simple entertainment like video games.

Rule #2: Germans care more about cleaning the blood off their hands.

I care a lot about my safety which is why I'm completely against gun bans.  I live in New Hampshire, the freest and safest state in the US.  It's no suprise that we have fewer cops and less restrictive self-defense laws than just about anywhere else in the US.  It is perfectly legal for a 14 year old to strap on a gun and walk in the state capital or a bar.  I was at a bar last night and several of my friends where openly wearing guns while drinking beer.  I love the safety I feel around such people.

Well maybe it's just me, but i'd feel a lot safer if i had known nobody would carry a gun...

And isn't it just because you are amongst friends that you feel safety...

wait when they get drunk and they wom't be happy when somebody will tell them they should go home. sorry, but the law in US is bad if we're talking bout this stuff - everyone can have lots of guns and no one cares and then you see all those shootings in school cause mentally unstable people have them. it's perfect in my country when you have to pass several tests to own a normal gun while air guns, stun guns etc. are available for every 18+ year old person after showing ID.

i feel safe cause i know that there won't be any sick guy with a gun - i can't say that bout you state knowing that even kids can have guns without any problem.

i saw this coming now i cant buy the conduit or modern warfare 2, hell theyll probably ban disaster day of crisis aswell, fuck the german gouverment its time for me to go back to britain this sucks but its time for us german gamers to fight this situation cause banning games wont solve anything than getting piracy rates high so who can blame them then i know am a member of "GAF" "Games Are Freedom!!!

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

People talking about a country when their knowledge about it seems very limited is sad.
Talking about prejudices.
These kind of decisions and/or plans are mostly made by hysteric, uninformed, conservative politicians shortly before elections (and stimulated [again] by amok cases we had lately) and don't reflect the overall condition of the state, the constitution or the society itself.
