Forums - Gaming - FORZA 3 is the new graphics king

I don't really like that mountain circuit, it does look arcade indeed.  Le Mans on the other hand looks fantastic.  Graphics look more than good enough if the physics are sim like, as it seems it's going to be.

...From what I have seen and heard graphically, the cars in Forza3 are FAR superior to GT5P. They are smoother, the reflections are actually MORE relistic that GT5P's cars, the shading is better, fewer jagglies, even the cockpit in Forza3 will be running at 60FPS when the game releases. I guess you don't get out much to look at REAL cars do you? Save the argument for a game that MAY actually top Forza3...and that would be GT5.

FAR superior?    C'mon mate come back to reality.

I have to agree the Le Mans in game footage I saw was pretty stunning and one of the reasons why I think it deserves a lot of praise. If you have yet to see the Le Mans footage I strongly urge you to seek it out.

So now F3 cars don't look better on the exterior and you argue that F3 has better interior?

What's next? F3 has better looking suspension?

Where did I say that F3 cars exterior are not better. Loads of pics have been posted that easily beats GT5P. Only VGChartz PS3 fanboys still disagree.

Not sure if your opinion really matters when you claimed PGR4 and GRID look better than GT5P.

Both of those games play MUCH better than GT5:P (and forza 2 plays x10 better than GT5:P too), much more enjoyable, GT5:P felt like a chore to play, let's bounce off walls, woohoo!

And yup, Forza 3 is proving itself more each day that it is going to pi*s all over GT5:P and GT5 from a great height, only sony fanboys fail to see this, funny to see though lol

Am I supposed to laugh at you?

really don't see where you get the lighting model looking better from. How do the cars in Forza3 look more "arcadey"  than GT5P? is it the "high polish" on the cars? Because that to me, makes the cars look like they were lovingly waxed and detailed, much like they would be in real life to reduce drag.

Don't get me wrong, Forza 3 looks great.  Anyway I've picked 3 images from the official Turn10 website to demonstrate the arcadey feel.

If you look at the top image, the buildings in the background have a "Uncharted" look to them.  The second image....again the out-houses and the third image entirely looks more cartoony.

I think I've worked it out...its obviously the shader that they are using...it sometimes, shades things unusually....the cars in some shots look out of this world, nice and shiny etc, but in other shots they look as if they aren't shaded well.

I kind of agree. I think the extreme high contrast in F3 is a double-edge sword.

It looks good as a game with the extra sharp color but it also creates an artificial feel.

I don't know what others normally see. My eyes in real life do not see objects far away with such high contrast.

Here's an example of the lighting engine that GT5P has:

As you can see it looks more natural and realistic compared to the Uncharted-esque colourful lighting/palette of Forza 3.

Just stop with the cherry picking already, there are plenty of shots of GT5p that look "arcadey" too.  Secondly GT5p does not look in any way better graphically than what we've seen of F3, I think it was at that point you lost credibility and came across as a GT fanboy to me.  Any need to pull out the octaganol wheel shot of GT5p to prove how unnatural it looks?

sorry, i dont think so....

No, it's true. FM3 has a different art style. Turn 10 don't seem to be going for photorealism.

Compared to Prologue.
