Saying you hate all anime is as ridiculous as saying you hate all live action. All anime means is Japanese animation. The art style can be hugely different, the plots and themes can be different, all it is, is an median. Is there a unifying theme about live action, other than obviously live actors being shot? No. There's shitty ass movies like Meet the Spartans, funny movies, serious movies, gory movies, etc. |
This isn't strictly true. Anime refers to a style and production method, not a country of origin - anime can come out of other countries, too (which is why Avatar is considered anime by the academia).
@OP:
No, you are not the only anime hater, do not be silly. I'm sure there are tons. Hell, some people don't like cartoons at all.
Wait where the Hell did "Domo-Kun" come from if you are the kind of person who hates anime?

Is there anybody else who absolutely hates it?
I'm just curios, not tro0lling or being an asshole. |
No, I think it's pretty stupid for the most part.
There are the occassional anime shows or movies I like, but for the most part I think it's pretty stupid as a genre.
And I know saying I hate anime as a genre is silly because it isn't really a genre, it's just Japanese animation, but when I say anime, I mean your generic show that usually pops in your head when you say anime.
the only one i liked was the Dragonball series and that was when i was in 3rd-6th grade.

I don't know =/ There are people who do dispute whether or not Avatar is considered an anime or not.
While I can point out differences in art style and production method within anime, it's much much more profound in manga.
Take a manga like Vagaond and compare against stereotypical manga/anime esque styles. Even Vagabond isn't the best example of the stuff people like my dad will read, with ultra realistic drawings with Japanese samurais who have eyes that actually look oriental, that talk more about the traditional Japanese philosophy than focusing on fan service and moe (Golgo 13 is one example... although not the best).
You're starting to see Japanese artists become more and more influenced by Western art (although anime already is a result of western influence...) through art styles such as Superflat (which I actually don't like... but that's another rant).
I'll post some images later, but I gotta go play Yakuza 3 with my dad now (since he's more excited about it, and can actually understand everything).

The argument about whether or not Avatar is anime is basically only existent on the internet: amongst academics, in animations and film studies, its status is basically unquestionable.
And hey, I know what you mean. My favorite manga is still Lone Wolf and Cub.
I think a lot of the feature films are fantastic, but I can't really get into almost any of the episodic television shows. The only one I've ever liked is Gantz, and even that was ridiculously long winded.

I'm not doubting you or anything, but how does one prove this?
