Forums - PC - Any Total War Fans?

I love the series, although I'm behind a little, and really need to pick up Empire: Total War some time soon.

I loved Shogun, Rome and Medieval 2. Just can't seem to get into Empire total war as it seems rather unresponsive. Hopefully it will be addressed in a future update.

Hahah, what a coincidence just decided to take a break from medieval total war 2 and check the forums and first thing I see is this thread :D

I love MTW2 games and I have played all TW-games (shogun being the first one).

I was disappointed slightly with empire total war since I'm not really interested in the era, the system is fine and diplomacy has been made more easy to manage but I just love man-to-man combat with melee weapons.

also Empire total war has some annoying bugs which need to be fixed.

Where do you think the series will go next? Will they go to modern and then future warfare? Do you think they'll eventually try their hands at a Total War that encompases from Alexander's Time of Conquest (Or Persia's) to Now, in a sort of Civilization copy?

If I had to guess the most propable direction they're going next is a fantasy-setting. It would be the most logical direction now since modern/future warfare is fought completely differently (squad-based combat) so with fantasy setting (little like the third age: total war mod for med2) they could keep the core gameplay the same but have lot of new ideas for the series.

Creative Assembly can go to 3 different directions:

- Total War with fantasy setting

- Shogun Total war remake

- completely new series

but of course empire will get atleast 2-3 expansions before they will start working on the next project

@hapimeses I suggest you don't rush with your decision to buy it yet, wait atleast until CA will release a big patch to fix some of the problems the game has (random crashes, disappearing sound effects, unbalanced teams, poor AI, etc)

The Total War series is awsome! Still play RTW sometimes :)
And best thing is, when you feel you're done with the game there is the mods...

I want to try ETW but my computer almost dies when I play MTW2 T_T. I need money...

I'm playing Empire: Total War right now as Great Britain. The game's a bit broken, since I started the campaign before the patch came out that would let the AI use ships to launch naval invasions (which means London and Edinburgh will never, ever be touched), but I just wanted to get to know the game. The year is 1740 - after making British India a reality and folding the Thirteen Colonies into the Empire (which involved securing Quebec, which I did by buying it off the French), I turned my attention onto the great Franco-Spanish alliance. Due to the presence of large numbers of French troops in Calais, I had to land my twelve full stack armies in Normandy, and a further six in Bilbao, Spain. By this point, the French Empire had rampaged across Europe, reaching the gates of Berlin and annexing everybody from Amsterdam to Austria along the way, at which point I decided I had to act before the unification of continental Europe made an invasion impossible (I also needed Gibraltar, but I couldn't declare war on Spain without dragging France in, either). Within a year, I had captured Madrid and Paris, and set about defending the west side of the Seine against French counterattacks while renplenishing the units lost in the Battle of Paris with late arrival armies from India.

That's the thing I like most about Total War games: They make for some really good alternate history stories :P

My Favourite was the original Medieval...

Total War is kinda like Neverwinter Night, the plain vanilla game is a great but flawed expirience that becomes totally kick ass after you've put it through the mod-grinder.

Medieval 2 had some of the best mod that of the series, I wasn't too into Rome because at the time of its release my computer sucked and by the time I got a new one, Medieval 2 was out.

For all TW fans: I recommend Europa Universalis 3.

Was gonna post that game :p

TW has you run the battles though so they are very different ( though similar :p).

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I'd love to play Empire Total war. Unfortunately I own a Macbook...
I still hope that someday SEGA will port it to PS3.

It can be a fun series though bugs and AI can hurt the experience a little.

Shogun Total War was amazing. They need to make a sequel, or just remake the original. No-dachi Samurai ftw.
