I love rome total war. The Midieval one was no real improvement. I haven't got the new one yet.

There are some very good mods For Rome total war. I myself helped out with one called the Europa Barbaborum. You should try that one. It makes the original ten times better.

You also have one damn good one for the expansion BI, named IBFD. It makes it more realistic and a lot harder to beat.

I'm installing EB now. May I ask what you exactly did?

One thing i did was to add new textures to the campaign map. The vanilla ones looked really bland.

I made all the hellinistic generals, all on one model, plus the Saba one too. I revamped all the Saba and German (Sweboz) unit textures. I also did all the elephant skins and like some 50 new units in total.

The great thing of EB is that all the factions are fleshed out in a big manner. You can play for months before even playing the romans.

Another Total War fan here :)
Started with RTW (which is still my fav.) and later moved on to M2TW. Also tried STW, which was good, but not as good as RTW/M2TW. The only expansion I tried was BI. (and Realism mod for RTW)

I'm now waiting for a new PC so I can play ETW.

My computer sucks, I can't run it without huge loading times and horrible lag =/

It does seem a LOT more challenging than Vanilla.

I have bought Medival + extension to play Third Age total war (LOTR world)

yeah it was nice

but it is always the same stuff allover again since RTW

... bored ? perhaps ...

Have you played Empire? I haven't played it yet, but it HAS to be a huge divergence from the series with the entire game dedicated to gunpower technology.

For all TW fans: I recommend Europa Universalis 3.

I played Shogun a lot back then, and Rome too. in the year's end Steam sale I got Rome and the BI expansion (I could have picked up the Alexander one too but the pack mysteriously disappeared when I bought my games, just to reappear in the following day). anyway, I started a Roman campaign and found out that... I don't have the patience anymore. if it was the only game I owned, I'm sure I would have played it, but it demands time and I never ran the game again... :P

Empire: TW sounds cool but with naval battles and all other stuff, but it will take some time before I get it (if I ever do)

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I love Total War for it's mass army techincal abilities. Shogun and Medieval were amazing. Just seeing the massive number of soldiers fight individually just made the battles fantastic. The best part was that Shogun ran on a 500mhz computer with crappy video card. Didn't take a lot of power to get that size of an army AI going.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Hahah, what a coincidence just decided to take a break from medieval total war 2 and check the forums and first thing I see is this thread :D

I love MTW2 games and I have played all TW-games (shogun being the first one).

I was disappointed slightly with empire total war since I'm not really interested in the era, the system is fine and diplomacy has been made more easy to manage but I just love man-to-man combat with melee weapons.

also Empire total war has some annoying bugs which need to be fixed.

Where do you think the series will go next? Will they go to modern and then future warfare? Do you think they'll eventually try their hands at a Total War that encompases from Alexander's Time of Conquest (Or Persia's) to Now, in a sort of Civilization copy?
