Forums - Gaming - Microsoft Should Stop Taking Jabs At Gran Turismo

I truly don't give a fuck about racing sims at all, but let's be serious for a second here. To call Gran Turismo a racing sim, or to act like Gran Turismo even approaches realism, is mentally bankrupt. Any "racing sim" where your car exists in a bubble of force that prevents collisions or damage is not a "sim" at all, it is a pile of bullshit. Watching fanboys jump to the defense of Gran Turismo and talk about how realistic and awesome it is, as if they spend the time they aren't playing games or acting like douchebags on forums driving around in their sports car at 180 mph, makes me want to vomit.

Like I said, I wouldn't play Gran Turismo or Forza if you paid me, so I have absolutely no vested interest in this discussion, I'm just sick and tired of reading the same bullshit threads on this forum every single day, filled with the same worthless tools acting like they are fucking Mario Andretti.

Here is the bottom line: if you think a racing game where your car is immune to damage is anything even APPROACHING a sim, you should be forced to go through life in a helmet for your own safety, and should be castrated so that you can never have children as fucking stupid as you are. Mario Kart is closer to a racing sim than Gran Turismo is, because at least in Mario Kart there are negative consequences to running into things at high speeds.

In conclusion: if any of you tools actually owned a high performance automobile, or had any fucking clue whatsoever about the physics of driving such a car at extreme speeds, you would not be on VGChartz engaging in console-driven flame wars about racing games, you would be driving those cars or at the jobs which allowed you to pay for them, so spare us your meaningless armchair thesis on the subject of realism please. And if you think a game with damage-immune cars is at the forefront of realism, you're probably too stupid to even read this, so I probably just wasted my time.

^This FTW. And, also, the ban. XD

First off, the thread title is inherently wrong, MS is not taking jabs at GT. Turn 10 is, and should be, they have made something that closely rivals there nearest compeditor. They are proud of it, and they should be. The moment they drop the drama, they drop out. This is a brilliant publicity stunt since it keeps Forza 3 in the news, and on the forums. It gets all the fan boys foaming at the mouth and wanting blood. This creates even more exposure (pics, video, facts about gameplay and graphics), and people get to see how close GT5 and Forza 3 are. Also, Forza 3 has an advantage this gen, there is a larger install base for their "home" console. IF Forza 3 does not beat GT5, it will come suprisingly close and embarass all you silly little fanboys crying about the tough competition. You should actually be grateful to Turn 10, they are making Polyphony sweat, which means Polyphony will feel pressured to release a much better game next gen. So bow down to Turn 10 and thank them for being so mean!

Whilst I agree that the PR people behind Forza are being needlessly and annoyingly aggressive towards the GT series, I have to laugh at this guy. He starts with
"Microsoft has an irritating habit of attempting to tear down the competition while simultaneously promoting their own; a marketing tactic we don't see as often from either Sony or Nintendo"

And then tries to tear down the competition by describing Microsoft as looking foolish and aspects of Forza as laughable

Lets all grow up kthx

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76698

Even beyond that, we have had a steady stream of Sony paid developers saying 'not possible on the xbox 360' just think of the pink as some kind of wierd girlyman voice.

Hell, we have even had comments about Forza 3 from the Polyphony digital, and whilst they are more subtle they are still jabs at the competition. So whichever way you look at this, you have to name and shame both sides or not participate at all if you care anything about not being a hypocrite.

Tease.

Nailed it.  Your the best around, nothing is going to keep you down.  Never argue about realism in games.

Forza = we cant make a good racing but here just play this one

Eurogamer seems to consider that GT5 PROLOGUE is still the graphical king :

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/forza-motorsport-3-hands-on?page=2

"Microsoft has three tracks on show, all originals, all set in a vertiginous, rocky and green alpine setting. A road circuit, a test circuit and a Formula One-style track, they are relatively fast and sweeping with some interesting bumps and camber changes - and pretty, too: lush, crisp, colourful and brightly lit, just like the cars, which sport full damage-modelling (cosmetic, simulation or intermediate) and can even roll. Forza 3 looks a little less clinical that its predecessor - but still quite clinical, and despite Turn 10's confidence that it has the best-looking racing game in the world on its hands, it can't quite match GT5 Prologue's near-photorealism, GRID's bustling track drama or Need For Speed Shift's thrilling in-car view."

At least, they have the dammage ...

make a thread about this and hell will break loose:O)

We seem to have a supremacy issue here. GT5 folks seem to believe that the game has some kind of god given right to being the best in its genre. What has happened is that right is being challenged and challenged hard.

If GT5 hits 10 million sold and Forza 3 does not make half that number then I would be suprised. Both Forza 3 and GT5 will undoubtably be successfull on both platforms the problem GT5 has it has a greater height to fall, and fall is most likely will to some degree.

wel, i doubt the main are the sales themselves

I m sure both games will VERY WELL (particularly considering the pricing, timing, and the userbzse of the 360)

but the question is : who will be considered as the best one !!!???
