as most of you know i am expecting my first little baby. i have been very sick the past couple months and was in the hospital for a few days because i was so dehydrated and couldnt keep food down. during my stay i was stuck about 12 times cause the nurses couldnt get a vain, i was given meds in the wrong spot, i was woke up about 2 or more times a night so they could take my blood preasure, i was woke up every morning at 6:00am by a doc that asked me if i usualy dont eat and other stupid questions....and on and on.... (anyway, i am home now and just starting to feel better). so im curious to hear anyone else hospital experiences, good or bad....

Chances are they were monitoring you very closely because you are pregnant. They have to keep an eye out for anything that might effect the baby. Pre-eclampsia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-eclampsia) is a condition that can be fatal for you and the unborn baby. The first sign of this is high blood pressure. Which is more than likely why they were waking you up to take it twice a night.

And if you are dehydrated, it's going to be hard for them to get a vein on you.

No matter how annoying getting poked and prodded is, usually it's for your own benefit.

One time I took my daughter to the hospital and she required a needle. They asked me to hold her down. She screamed. I did not like this.

i know most of it was for my own good, but when you have doctors who arent reading your chart before they see you, residents who are contradicting your doctors orders and giving them to the nurses as if they are coming from your doctor and nurses who are all saying different things about your meds and things, it gives one room to question.

ive been in the hospital once before for 2 weeks and it is always and mix of good and bad...you have some nurses who are great and sweet and some who are miserable, bottom line, no one wants to have to be in the hospital...

i had my pinky toe almost completely cut off when i was 5. I stepped on broken piece of metal and it cut through the bone. It was disgusting to say the least.
