I would prefer to run the game as legally as possible but they're really pushing me to look for a crack.

I went through their little help page to get an analysis file but that didn't even work.

as long as you own the game having a back-up copy is legal. =P

there is no law against using the backup copy instead of the main copy.

Fortunately, even the stupidest companies (hi, EA!) seem to have finally cottoned on. Both the latest Sims cash cow and Dragon Age won't have limited activations. Unfortunately, no one seems to have told Atari...

Are they actually publishing the game with no DRM, or are they just lifting the limit on activations.

Because if it's the former, I might finally be able to give Bioware the money they so richly deserve.

they have no SecuROM. They have minor DRM with is just the security key activiation.

That's awesome news!

Either SecuRom or StarForce kill my burner dead. Or both.

I can't use my desktop for burning anymore, had to use laptop, since I don't game on laptop.

And yes, SecuRom and the like sucks. Now, you understand the hatred so many people have for DRM.

Probably Starforce.  It's been known to do it in the past.  It's why i'm afraid to install Super Power 2 on my new PC.  That's one game i'd love to play with the people in the Off Topic discussion area.

You might want to read your EULA again on that.

Thanks for all the help yall but I have it fixed now.

I tried compatibility mode, making sure I was running it as the administrator, found the broken dll in Vista, made sure no emulation software was running, have no burning software beyond what comes with Windows or my DVD burner (which is whatever Dell provided), removing SecuROM completely, reinstalling the game a few times and none of that worked.

Because of that I had to do exactly what I didn't want to do and find a crack. Yeah, not entirely legal but fuck you SecuROM, how the Hell else am I supposed to play my two games which I bought completely legal and new?

I'm using the crack where I still have to have the CD in the drive because I at least want to keep in spirit of playing the game right, I just couldn't get past SecuROM.

(and the funny thing is I've already played both KotoR games, I just felt like messing around with the game after playing some Mass Effect)

Off Topic: I would like to the DMCA to rot in hell though.

I'm not even sure how EULA's are legal.
