Forums - PC - Help, problem with SecuRom

I've tried compatability mode and I tried removing SecuROM and still haven't had any luck. I read through the KotoR thread linked above and was too tired to really screw with that.

I may just have to get a buddy who is much better at finding cracks and such (since I have no idea where to look) to find one for me since I'm in the mood to play KotoR again.

i'm just goin to wait for windows 7 to play kotor 2 again...

Either SecuRom or StarForce kill my burner dead. Or both.

I can't use my desktop for burning anymore, had to use laptop, since I don't game on laptop.

And yes, SecuRom and the like sucks. Now, you understand the hatred so many people have for DRM.

If I ever have even the slightest trouble with DRM, I just go straight there and get the cracked exe- it takes about 2 minutes.

I wish I could find a good list of PC games which are DRM-free. I walk past them in stores and think: This looks interesting, but I wonder what bullshit it might infect my computer with...

So I buy Wii and DS games instead.

The only way to have fun PC gaming is to not care.

This

I can't run battlefield 2142 because of the security on the dvd. It can't be read by my dvd drive. The disc itself is fine though, can read with my other drive. (But to enable that i have to disable both the other drive and a harddisk.. so i was like fuck that shit.)

Check out my game about moles ^

What burning software do you use with your DVD drive? I've run into problems with SecuROM when I had the Nero suite installed. Had to fully uninstall the entire suite to get the game in question to run.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

DeepBurner. Nero's a pain in the ass.

This is precisely why gamers hate the war on piracy. You wouldn't have this issue if the companies took a progressive stance on the matter. People who just pirate the game in the first place don't have these issues and the security doesn't even delay the illegal release by even a day. Why put legitimate customers through hell when you aren't stopping a single pirate?

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Fortunately, even the stupidest companies (hi, EA!) seem to have finally cottoned on. Both the latest Sims cash cow and Dragon Age won't have limited activations. Unfortunately, no one seems to have told Atari...

Are they actually publishing the game with no DRM, or are they just lifting the limit on activations.

Because if it's the former, I might finally be able to give Bioware the money they so richly deserve.
