Forums - PC - Help, problem with SecuRom

And people wonder why I don't like PC Gaming...

So I installed Knights of the Old Republic a few weeks back but never actually got the chance to play it until tonight.  I pop my disc in, start the game, and I get this error:

So I check the SecuROM help page and it tells me to disable my emulator?

The fuck?

I don't have a damn emulator mother fucker.  I have a DVD+R but I have no emulators, no virtual drives, and no DVD ripping software on my machine.  I don't even have any torrent or any other sharing software other than iTunes on here.  I never have.

What the Hell am I getting this error?

Up until now, I thought the people complaining about SecuROM were just crazy and bitching about how they couldn't install their games so many times but now I see what they're talking about.

lol, so it says you have a non-existent version of software like Damon Tools running?

Securom is so weird, why not just bypass it with a crack?

I would prefer to run the game as legally as possible but they're really pushing me to look for a crack.

I went through their little help page to get an analysis file but that didn't even work.

Try a system update.

It may be looking at checksums of system DLLs or something.

Hey atleast it isn't destroying your disc drive like Starforce does.

Meh, you own the game... you should at least be able to play it.

Ugh, so I finally get their launch Analysis thing working and I get the above error while trying to run it.

Fuck you SecuROM.

Awesome, I try to run KotoR II and it just crashes.

Again, screw you PC gaming. Better my ass.

Windows Update didn't do the trick, their analysis tool just doesn't work so SecuROM help can't help me, and I have no intention of downloading cracks.

Woohoo, I guess I have two worthless games.

What kind of Windows do you run anyway?

I know i couldn't get KOTOR to run on Vista for the life of me.  Tried like 10 different things.

Pissed me off because i bought it specifically to try it out.
