is this the guy that said sony was going to release a ps3 without a blu-ray drive?

I don't think so, but I don't see a big problem with that prediction. Aren't we seeing a PSP without UMD now?

I'm hoping that you are kidding?

No, I am not. Ever heard of downloadable games?

I don't think it would happen though, because the production cost wouldn't decrease that much (losing blu-ray, but adding a bigger hard drive).

you do know that alot of ps3 games require blu-ray(mgs4 for the most part)

^^imagine downloading MGS 4 from the PSN Store, my god horrible.

@dsister44: You do know that a modern hard drive is faster and bigger than any Blu-Ray disc, right?

Great at least Microsoft is being smart about the Xbox 360.

I could easily download it overnight with my Internet connection.

I know, not everyone has fast connections, but clearly a download-only console would be more like a niche product for now.

you do know that a blu-ray driver costs about the same as a 50 gb hard drive(which it would take for it to just hold mgs4)

You don't understand how it works.

blu-ray is a disc format, just like DVD, but with more space.... MGS4 does not REQUIRE an optical disc format at all, true, it would not fit on a DVD (well it would, but the music would have to be compressed and stuff like that, and it might still need 2 DVDs) but it will easily fit on a Hard-Drive because they can be any size you want.

I think I said the same thing before in the thread :P
