i dont see why releasing one every year would mean its bad quality, they already have the engine

Yah I don't see them changing the engine until Half Life 4 which would be after Episode 3 still...

It's not a web poll, so far as I know. I thought it was a group on Steam - i.e. you have to have a Steam account, etc. to join the group.
That could mean the majority of people are PC players who already have accounts, 360 owners who created account to protest or PS3 owners having fun (not that I've understood that kind of fun).
I'm guessing, assuming most people wouldn't go to the effort of creating and account (or even knowing about it) that the majority must be original Steam accounts for PC players.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Right, I'll admit that I've not been following this. I almost bought L4D from Steam about a month ago when the sale was on (they had a cheap weekend or something), but I didn't. However, if I had bought then, I'd be majorly pissed now. L4D was promised support like Team Fortress, and I was aware of that when I almost made my purchase. Everything in L4D2 is what was promised for L4D. I fully understand why people are upset, and would be one of them if I'd bought the game last month. Valve have not been up-front with their intentions here; I would certainly have never considered L4D if I'd known L4D2 was coming so soon, and L4D would become, by default, the inferior game. They promised one thing, then did another. Sure, many won't care (and most of those will by 360 gamers, I imagine -- PC gamers are used to a very different gaming environment to console gamers), but many will care, and will be upset, and I fully understand that, even if I am not one of them (although I almost was).
And the Steam group has over 12,000 members now. It's increasing pretty fast.
10000 vs. 2.1 million? I don't think they will worry to much

I think you'll be suprised at just how worried Valve will be if this continues. 12,000 PC people talking against them in Steam is a lot of people, and it's increasing, not slowing. This is not good PR for the company that prides itself on its good relations with the PC gaming community. I'd be surprised if this isn't addressed by Valve at some point.
Guys, this is no random web poll. It's a Steam User Group, and all members are members of Steam. Most of them, from the looks of it, active PC gamers:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/L4D2boycott/members?p=1
It shows whether each member is online, and what they are playing. Many are online, most playing TF2, HL2, L4D, or a handful of other games.
This issue has also spurred quite a debate on gaf as well.
The crux of the issue is this: Valve promised plenty of new features, add-ons, DLC, and patches for L4D for quite some time to come, similar to their extensive post-release support of Team Fortress 2:
So can we please see this more akin to the PC vs Console fanboy war rather than some PS3 fanboy conspiracy?
