I'm planning on picking one up in the next few weeks. I wondered in any VGC-ers obtained one since it launched today.

I think the pre can do decent against the iPhone, but of course, the iPhone is in a class all of it's own.

The big disadvantage, though, for the iPhone is that it's only on AT&T in the USA. The Pre is on Sprint and is going to go to Verizon, America's largest carrier with 87 million subscribers, in 6 months...That'll be HUGE for the Pre.

FYI, subscribers in the US:

Verizon - 83,700,000
AT&T - 78,200,000
Sprint - 49,000,000
T-Mobile - 32,800,000 (128.3 million globally)

If Pre does go to Verizon as well, that will represent over 130,000,000 potential users...Dwarfing the iPhone's base at 78.2m in the US.

So far, the reviews for the Pre have been short of glowing, but very positive. I hope this phone works out, because Sprint has a much cheaper data plan than AT&T does.
