Forums - Sony - Based on what I'm looking for, Sony's motion controls seems more fun.

I just finished watching the whole Sony E3 press conference and I'm really excited about the potential for the Sony motion controls.  No disrespect to Microsoft and Natal, but for my tastes, Sony's motion control looks more fun.  I think it looks like the perfect middle ground between what the Wii offers and what Microsoft is looking to do with Natal.  I want a controller(s) in my hand(s) while I play and Sony's answer will let me do that.  Sony's motion sensing seems to be the "gamer's" controls whereas Natal is a very "casual" experience.  Again, this is all just based on what I'm personally looking for.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

Natal = EyeToy + Voice Recognition
I still don't get the hype behind any motion controls, it's all for casual gamers anyways.

I agree.

I'm still more of a traditional "sit on the couch with a controller" guy, but I can see the fun to be had in some of the more advanced motion control applications. I want the tactile feedback and use of buttons that the Sony version will provide. I don't see myself enjoying Natal where I only use my body.

I'd also like to add that the glowing ball on the end of the Sony controller seems to address one of the biggest Wii issues that even the Motion Plus doesn't seem to have addressed. I'm talking about movement on the Z-axis. Ever tried anything in a Wii game that requires you to move the controller closer or further away? It doesn't work well. Plus, the Wii will only read the closer/further away with the IR sensor pointed at the TV. The Sony "ball" protrudes out from the controller and will therefore let the PSEYE read it no matter what the angle.

Motion sensing isnt for me. If it was i would have gotten a Wii.

I like the idea of the motion controller from Sony, it seems a lot more accurate and being able to move on the z-axis is going to add more depth to the games that use it compared to the other offerings.

If i were to go for one it would have to be Sony as i have never been a fan of Nintendo games, and MS's offering Natal - the fact you only use your body makes me think this will seem more detached from the games than immersed!

well i dont' know too many games off hand that have me pushign forward on the Wii, can only think of the DBZ games when they have you do it for specials like kamehameha and others.  and 1 you don' thave to have the ir pointed at the screen, it can be below, above or whatever, and it works great.  When you hold back you start charging move and it goes off when you thrust forward.    havne't played twilight princess in a while, but i think you thrust forward for a thrust, but could be wrong.

But anyway, never understand why so many people are so excited for sony's motion controller.  It seems the same as the Wiimotion + to me from watchign the demos and stuff.  But the Wii already has like 5 games coming out in the next month or two for the wiimotion+ and bundled with them.  And who knows how many more will be made by the time the sony thing gets released. Hell they just sent out the kits for this.  And what better way to test the water tahn throw their idea on the Wii whle they wait for teh PS3 to release the (did they give their wand a name?) wand.

Also Metroid Prime 3 required you to push forward and twist the wii remote to open certain things (doors etc).

It worked pretty well, for me it worked perfectly straight away almost every single time. Others have complained that it hasn't worked as well for them, so the technologies obviously not perfect.

But I would not go as far as to say it doesn't work well.

oh yea forgot that part in prime, i was thinking of my games and only remembered the ripping off the shields in prime, and damn that felt good. but didn't think that was the right thing, but now that i remember, you kind of do a throwing motion to whip out whip thigny and then rip back. i loved that so much
