Forums - Gaming - CNET: You can believe in Microsoft's Project Natal

"About halfway through a closed-door demo I was in this afternoon of Microsoft's just-announced full-body motion-sensitive control system, Project Natal, another reporter told our host that he was skeptical of what he was seeing.

A minute later, after taking the virtual controls himself of the game "Burnout Paradise" and giving Natal a test, the reporter walked back over to where I was standing and when I asked him if he was still skeptical, he gave me a chastened look and said, "It's interesting."

Seriously, everybody just needs to stop with these threads about people that were skeptical but won over after actually USING the thing. The VGC community as a whole has made up its mind to stick with console loyalty (SONY WON E3!!!!!!!!!!) over anything that these people that actually were THERE could possibly say.

So all these threads do is clutter up these forums with logic and reason that has no place here. G'on now! Git!!!

Sony won E3. Wait, he just said that... Err Natal... No! Hmm Nintendo FTW!!!

LOL, JK.

Actually Vgchartz finally has something interesting to talk about. The conversation -> trolling ratio has improved quite substantially as theres been so much good stuff going on that its hard to find time to troll and generally act like a naughty boy.

Tease.

You can believe in Natal, umm, when it comes out over a year from now.

@ Squil

I see what your saying, but I've looked at a lot of threads here this week and it kinda sucked the wind outta me. Lots of out and out FALSEHOODS being stated as fact and repeated et al about what was shown. And now that we are seeing reports from the gaming press as to who impressed the most and suddenly gaming press is completely useless and biased because it didn't go along with their opinion from afar.

Such an exciting week in gaming this was. I'd hate to have to continue to go elsewhere to find folks that actually want to celebrate that.

I dig your posts, though. You enjoy yourself here and still bring the insight too.

The takeaway quote from the full C-NET article (http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-10255403-235.html):

Clearly, Microsoft is banking heavily on software developers--who are just now getting development kits--being able to utilize Natal in their games in such a way that players don't have to do any kind of configuration or tinkering in order to get it to work. Absent that instant-workability, the system loses a lot of its allure. But Tsunoda was insistent that that is Natal's value proposition and that developers will have no trouble making it work that way in their games.

Basically, it was an impressive demo. And the technology has a lot of potential. But remember, Microsoft is known for "smoke and mirrors." Whether or not Natal turns out to be one of them is anyone's guess. It very well could be if software makers do not incorporate the technology into the games.

What we need to see is a release date, price point, and workable software. And even then, it will be up to the market place to decide. For there will be over 30M Xbox 360 users who don't have this already and will have to decide whether to invest in it.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

So?.......What if it is Over a Year away?.....The Dev kits just shipped this week....What's your point?.....

And are not reading stuff?...Burn Out Paradise already working with NATAL.....

I expect NATAL to get Dated at Next Year's E3 with a Games blow out....

Stop trying down play NATAL by saying it's over a year away....We don't even know when Reach is coming out and we are all over that.

Just like we are all over NATAL......

It would be way more smart to watch Xbox 360 sales in the comming weeks...that will show you what effect NATAL's annoucement has had...

It's too early to feel Negative about NATAL with out knowing what 3rd parties are going to do with it......The waiting game begins

@Darth, So now we only take VGC's account of who won E3 when pratically ever single other site says different? C'mon there's even a thread (if I remember correctly) that basically mentions how this site is basically ran by PS3 fanboys.

I think there's a mixup here.  What you just stated was the point I was trying to make.
