Despite the fact that we are supposed to be living in the era of casual, social, and community gaming, it appears to me that by far the dominant game genre at E3 2009 was third person, sinlge player action adventure games with many games in this genre being bonafide Game of the Year contenders. There were at least twenty such games at E3 this year, so I would like to think all of the developers for making sure that this genre seems to be continuing to thrive in 2009. I do find it a little surprising.
List of these games
The Last Gaurdian -- PS3
Metroid: The Other M -- Wii
God of War III -- PS3
Metal Gear Peacewalker -- PSP
Metal Gear Rising -- Multi
Uncharted 2 -- PS3
Heavy Rain -- PS3
Brutal Legend (If The Metal Gods allow it to be released) -- Multi
The Agent -- PS3 or Multi

The fps Halo: ODST seemed to be geared towards its single player experience as well.
What do you think of all these great single-player action adventure titles and what do you think accounts for the prescence of so many single player action adventures being the dominant genre at E3 in this supposed era of community, social, and casual games?
