Forums - Microsoft - Xbox360 scratched my game to death!!!

Yeah if would have moved it i would be happy to get a new one for 15quit.

But thats not the case.

One question comes to my mind: how far and how fast do i have to move the console? is it enough to plug something into the usb and move the box some milimeters?

All guys calling me a liar: i gonna upload a pic of my box -> there is no possible place for movement (left to it is a cuboard, on the right side my ps3 and the tv!)

all it takes is a wobble. The disc is already spinning really fast, so even plugging in a USB cable could bump it enough to scratch the disc.

Granted, I think they should have made a better drive, as I've knocked over my Wii and not scratched the disc, most players have 0 protection from disc scratching if you bump them at all.

EDIT: unless it is scratching every disc you put in, it is your fault. (oh, and take spanky's post into account, so if you have a really loud sub or speakers near by, it would be your fault)

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

no bump is necessary. it's been shown before that even loud noises or jumping near the console could cause this (getting excited during a Lips session, weren't you?).
my long term solution: remove console from sub-woofer, place thick foam pads under your console.

keep it horizontal

good luck - pay the 15 quid imo.

jumping near the console, while playing lips.... hmmm not to far off. I have to ask my gf.

the neweset ad of lips (number one hits) comes to my mind: all dancing, moving like rockstars, powersliding on the floor...

Do i have a chance to sue them? ;)

so my gf is not allowed to play DDR anymore?

Anyways, its annoying, i never experienced anything like this on any console.

My first 360 ate my copy of Tomb Raider Underworld, but that was because I went inside of it and tried to fix the "disc read error". I feel your pain, OP. Hope you get the result that you're looking for. And, if you rent a copy and install it to the hard drive, your broken copy should still work. That's what I did.

???

no thats simply not true. We just played our games without any noticable movement. Now the disc isnt working anymore.

Actually my other

If i would have known 360 is so sensitive, lol, then i could have done something easily.Im still trying to figure out what could have caused the scratching. there was no active, purposely done movement.

Next time i buy any disc drive, i purchase 1 m3 polysterene as well just to be on the safe side.....
