As i am one lucky guy that has won the 360 elite, i wasnt that much satisfied when my gf started complaining her beloved lips game doesnt run anymore.

First we did as the 360 told us: Clean the disc and restart -> didnt work.

After using a cleaning cd and lots of anger we noticed a scratch around the whole dvd. Firstly we didnt notice it because it looks so precise we thought it would belong there.

Xbox support line told us to send in the game and get a replacement, just for 15€ for packaging! Damit!

Im pissed i have to pay for something i didnt do!

My gf then came up with a nice idea: Why dont we email the promotion manager who has given us the xbox back when we won it.

He told us if you move the consol or transport it its the most logical thing that will happen and its known to other consoles as well. Due to my mistake he offered me the same choice as the girl from the support line or i have to wait 4-6 weeks and get a used promotional copy of lips....

WHAT? Other consoles have it as well? Man i am a proud owner of every consol this gen, own plenty more disc drives and to none of them anything similiar ever happened!!! I definetly gonna try to get a more precise statement so i can send this email to sony and nintendo HAHA!

And maybe interesting to mention: i never moved that bloody thing!

The options he offered me are ridiculus: Pay or get a used promo copy in about a month or two.

I want a fresh new copy of the game, i mean its a hw failure to my believe, so isnt there some sort of guarantee? Maybe i should tell him im thinking to involve consumer protection service...

What would you do?

Pay the 15 bucks,

wait for the used promo copy or

keep fighting?

you are so unlucky... goodluck on fighting them, y ou should get that new software for free but atleast pay for the shipping cost :P

You can thank MS for not wanting to add a $0.25 piece to every console to prevent that. Or at least thats what i read from some guy trying to sue MS for that same problem.

If it really wasn't your fault then you would be trying to replace the console with the game, and not just the game.

In todays mail i asked him if maybe the consol is defect!

One of two things happened here:

1, You moved the 360 while the disc was spinning, it clearly tells you not to move the console while turned on = Your fault, just like it was my fault when i moved my 360 and scratched a game, noone else to blame other than yourself,

Or,

2, Your a fanboy and are making crap up,

I really hate these idiotic threads. Anyone who MOVES their 360 while the disc is moving is a moron. You should be happy with only paying 15€ . If I owned the company I would have told you to go buy a new one.

Why would someone want to move their 360 if the disc is spinning anyway? I have owned 2 360's 1 at launch, then I sold it and bought a black elite, never have I had a problem with either of them scratching a disc. Just like my computer tower, if you move the thing while a disc is moving it will scratch the disc as well. Guess what, I have never had a problem with it either.

I take it you picked option one from my choice, good decision but you really should just admit your mistake and move on, I did and have been happy ever since, if you admit it you will have our support to get you through this tough time your having,

pay the 15, and next time don't bump the console.
