You should read some of the hands on with Natal. Natal is more than just a camera detecting movement. |
Really now? You could educate me: I was under the impression that motion-detecting cameras was exactly what we were looking at.

Natal uses a very sophisticated camera, IR detection, Voice recognition, Facial recognition and a co-processor together with very powerful software.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
So it uses a camera and a microphone with a lot of different software.
Like I said: that isn't "advanced" and it isn't new. The applications of it will undoubtedly be very cool, but it is no more or less advanced than the accelerometer-based motion detection of the Wiimote+.

I think it's capable of depth perception, that's new.
Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

By using two cameras, right? That's very neat, but I'm pretty sure it isn't nw - the Wiimote uses the same technology in its IR sensor in order to simulate depth.

I was referencing Sony's second attempt at waggle which Sony-heads are claiming is better than Natal.
But then they are claiming it's been done before with eyetoy and that eyetoy was the first motion sensing cam for consoles so I think it's safe to ignore what they say.
Wow, looks like this thread pissed off a few threatened Wii boys. NATAL is more advanced that the Wiimote because it see's the whole body in 3D and it has voice recognition, the Wiimote just has a gyroscope and an accelerometer. Hardly full body motion tracking.
Ubisofts release is impressive, but just won't cut it for other applications , or games. It is just another eyetoy (2D camera with cool software) with a Wii game. I would rather not buy a Wii just so I, or my wife can play a fitness game. I would rather keep my 360, and buy NATAL (3D camera with voice recognition and cool software), which can be used in many other cool apps and games. And could be used for training purposes in many different fields (such as surgeons or the Army) because it is 3D.
i would like one that can incorporate my treadmill at home, that way it may encourage me to use it again :D
ironman, that is not what "advanced" means.
I'm an avid 360 gamer. I'm playing Ninja Gaiden II right now. Console bias isn't entering into this.
Natal is not more advanced than the Wiimote. It's just different. It might do more in some aspects and less in others, but that doesn't make it more or less advanced, it just means it takes a different approach to motion sensing technology.
