Forums - Microsoft - Halo 3 - 1,000,000 sold in 1 day

Some people in here are very blind, just because bungie has 1,000,000 people on there site showing playing halo3 doesn't not result how much is sold. halo3 already had 1.6 million preorders before septmeber 25th, from what i heard they have sold 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hrs

Dolla Dolla learn c#. Halo 3 is a Microsoft game and i will bet that what they used.

**has nightmares of all the C# coding I did**  Hmmmmm most likely that's what they used, would make sense.

 /not really bad, it's quite simple to program in.

If Halo 3 1st Day sales < Halo 2 1st Day sales Then

Print "Disappointment Total."

Else

Print "Halo full of win."

End If

Visual Basic sucks...

if ( halo3FirstDaySales < halo2FirstDaySales)

    Console.Write("Disappointment Total.");

else

    Console.Write("Halo full of win.");

Over 1.3 Million Unique Logins to Bungie.net

WW Sales of over 2 Million just about Gauranteed for opening day.

3.5 Million this Week?

I can't see how that won't move console, even if just 10% bought consoles thats a nice boost of 350,000 360's.

Some people may be buying it for the single player, others may simply want to finish the campaign before tackling online, etc. It's gone up by 70,000 since the thread started so it's not a big deal.

 That's me.  I won't be doing multiplayer online probably ever.  I don't have a gold account and I'm just not interested.  I'm sure there are more like me...

 And you bought it?

Was it not better to rend it?

I was finally able to log on this morning. I'm going to give co-op a shot when I get back from work.

Did you have any doubt? This is not a surprise to anyone with half a brain cell. This comming from the same country that elected George W Bush.......Twice! Tell me that Halo 3 flopped. Now THAT would be a surprise worthy of posting.

Well, day 1 Halo 3 sales SHOULD be lower than day 1 Halo 2 sales. Halo 2 had a larger install base and a lower price threshold. Even MS themselves never said they were aiming to beat Halo 2's day 1 unit sales, just revenue. IIRC, Halo 2 did about 2.5M first day, for $125M in revenue. MS actually wanted to beat Spiderman 3's $150M first day opening, to have the biggest 1 day total in entertainment history.

So if this 1M online transfers to 2M purchases, they would need the average price to be $75 to beat $150M, which could be possible with a minimum price of $60, and the highest SKU well above $100.

At worst, they should beat that Halo 2 number.

I expect there'll be an MS press release tomorrow or Thursday.

Hrmm. Good analysis. By your analysis though it seems unlikely that they will reach their goal of beating Spider-Man 3 with the early reports, unless jasonnic's link is accurate. However, I'm not too sure about that one since it would mean that 60% of Halo 3 owners never logged online even though their games come with 48 hours of free Xbox Live.

 I get those 48 hour cards all the time.  I also have a couple of 1 month cards.  I tossed them in the trash because I'm not interested in playing online.  Just not my cup of tea...  I know there are more like me...  Also keep in mind that a LOT of people will want to play through the campaign first before they go online -- especially users that are new to Halo because they KNOW they will get killed without some skills...
