How is it that when microsoft gets a 3rd party exclusive it will eventually come to the ps3, but when a ps3 game is a 3rd party exclusive then it is impossible?
i really want to know why.

but i really doubt that it is going to come to the ps3

I hear the same argument from both sides. It's eerily similiar.

Microsoft fans think they're getting:

MGS4
Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Sony fans think they're getting:

Mass Effect 2
Splinter Cell Conviction

I dont see it that often with the xbox fans. i see alot of i really hope this game comes out for this as well. but whenever a 3rd party exclusive is announced for the x360. the sony fanboys say we will just get it in a month with better graphics and more content.

but whenever there is a 3rd exclusive for sony. i hear the game is impossible on the xbox or the Dev is loyal to sony and will not betray them.

That's merely a defense mechanism. It comes out of the worry that they really think it's very possible for the game to go multiplatform. Different tactics, but with the same underlying message.

I thought they had no ps3 kits, so I doubt it. Then again this gen....has been eventful.

I can see this getting a PS3 release down the line. If four previous Splinter Cells have taught us anything though it's to not trust the Playstation port.

How often have delayed ports to the PS3 of 360 games turned out well, quality-wise or sales-wise?

Well it's kinda a mixed bag quality wise. Sometimes the late ports are better and sometimes they're worse. Sales wise will obviously be much worse. I was speaking more about Ubisoft's inability to create a comparable port for Playstation users. Microsoft consoles have had four straight superior Splinter Cell ports.

yeah, they do have ps3 dev kits, but this studio has not done a good job of supporting the ps3. and has instead put their efforts behing the x360. which is one of the reasons that i think that it will stay a exclusive

Sales wise a TE will likely never turn out well compared to the original

Quality-wise, from what I understand, Elder Scrolls IV, Bioshock and Eternal Sonata were both better on the PS3.

"his is completely exclusive."

"But that may change in the future."

Anyone but me find this funny, its like his giving himself an exit hatch just in case his statement is wrong.

arrgh this gen can be really stupid sometimes.

even though they took MGS from PS, imo i could careless for both, it gets boring after awhile.

Stealth games ARE fun, but both franchises seem broken.

My general line of thinking is that a third party exclusive on either the ps3 or 360 will probably go exclusive unless 1. it is very niche (Valkyria Chronicles, Culdecept Saga - but even then that is not always the case, ala the Way of the Samurai 3), 2. if it sells very well in predominantly one region (Yakuza), or 3. it was just a cheap port from PC to 360 to begin with (the Battle for Middle-earth II).

However, if it's an even remotely high profile title, and it's popular in at least two of the three territories, it'll probably go multiplat, like Bioshock. I figured MGS4 would end up going multiplat (and it may yet - they have yet to announce the inevitable re-release of the game), but the MGS series ultimately did go multiplat, thus in a way proving my point.

I would not be surprised in the slightest if Splinter Cell went multplat. Hell, there's already a Splinter Cell on ps3.

I've heard people say for whatever technical reason it can't be made on PS3 the lighting or maybe PS3 can't put the images on the walls as well (although I think I saw something maybe not as elaborate but similar in Assassin's Creed 2 which was demoed on PS3).

However, I personally think Splinter Cell: Conviction will appear on PS3 sometime in 2010 much as the original Splinter Cell was a timed exclusive for the first xbox.
