Forums - Microsoft - Neil Thompson: Microsoft is not going to give up on Japan

I don't see the 360 ever having a market in Japan. If steeling AAA titles from the PS3 doesn't make the 360 a success in Japan, I can't imagine much will.

We haven't token much from the PS3 in Japan. Only game is Armored Core 4 and Devil May Cry 4 and Ace Combat 6. Really you should think before posting. That wasn't a good analysis.

Stealing is spelled like I spelled it not "steeling".

So merely for MS is that it requires time and money. MS has money, and all it now takes is time - it's upto Microsoft to figure out if that's worth it to them or not. Hopefully, it is, because I want more JRPGs!

Why wouldn't you just buy another system if you wanted JRPGs.  Seems silly to just wait and hope that the current system you have will somehow get them.  Fire Emblem comes out in Nov. and I can't wait to get it.  You'll be missing out on all the fun!!!

whatever, I'm a 360 owner and proud. mrstickball is a 360 and proud. We have huge confidence that we will get RPG's.

The 360 will never be a success in Japan, but the 720 might.

i agree. What Microsoft needs to do this round is show its shareholders that it can make money off consoles. It also needs to secure high-quality Japanese titles as multiplats, and a handful as exclusives. Assuming it does these two things, the 720 will become a viable console for Japanese consumers.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

^Like I said starcraft and stranne:

Microsoft will have the Japanese this generation. But not like the Wii or the Gamecube numbers. Sort of like how the Bandai' Wonderswan handheld was there. It should good but not good against the GameBoy. 360 will do good but will have numbers that are acceptable for the Xbox brand.

Sure, if MS triple their marketshare in Japan, it's a long way towards being a contender there in the future.

The Microsoft way. You screw up but get up and keep trying. Windows, DX, Zune, Windows Mobile...eventually they get something that works.

And taken is spelled like I spelled it, not "token."

To be fair, the Microsoft way is to have enough money to keep trying.  And the way that they got that money is by stealing an OS.  Eh...

But on topic: I do hope that the 360 sells well in Japan.  My feelings towards that situation are much like mine towards the Dreamcast - it deserves to sell there.  MSoft has done a lot of things right.

Microsoft will not take Japan any time soon because they can't buy exclusives from the number one company in Japan: Nintendo.

Oh no I did.

Nintendo has transformed the market over there, Final Fantasy ain't gonna cut it any more.  Until Nintendo screws up and another publisher takes its place, Japan belongs to them.

Does not matter, Japan does not care no matter what they do.
