Do you guys remeber the rumour of Final Fantasy XI-2 a few years ago? SE made a press release denying that, but they said they were working on a new MMO. Here's exactly what they said:

Square Enix will develop a sequel to Final Fantasy XI...for three platforms: Sony Computer Entertainment's next-generation PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, and the Windows Vista PC operating system

They will put it on as many platforms as possible.  They're going to give Sony a short, timed exclusive.

well let's hope it was money hatter otherwise it will inevitably end up on the 360.

I doubt it, the FF fanbase is on the PS3, especially the hardcore fanbase. Its best for them to work from there. So whilst the Xbox 360 has the biggest userbase, the PS3 has the biggest FF fanbase.

Tease.

perhaps the reason S-E went PS3 exclusive is because they can run their own servers, while on microsofts side there to restrictive and thus impractical for them, just a thought of course.

MS allows games to use servers.  FFXI, Left 4 Dead, and Frontline are just a few examples.

FFXIV needs to be on PS3 because a lot of japanese will play it on that. It has to be on PC because most westeners will play it on that.

X360 would be a nice addition, but it is not a necessary platform for the game. The game will still come out on 360 at a later date than on PS3/PC, it is obvious if you heard how exactly Tretton announced the game at Sony's conference.

who cares, we still got FF14!! : )

i hope it turns out great which it probably will, if there's deep character customization, different moves and this stuff i'll get it (but it's a bit too early right now)

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I don't just mean use servers, I mean use their own servers, as in S-E sets up it's own server farms which they control, manage, and maintain, but like I said, it was just a thought.

Im praying for free online.

FF XI plays on SE's own servers, you can play the game with Xbox Live Silver.

OT: The game was in development for PS3 , 360 and PC. Now the 360 version is scrapped (or delayed, w'll know in 2 years). But SE wouldn't have done it  to please Sony, they must have been convinced somehow.
