Forums - Sony - This is how sony could support their motion technology properly.

Without neglecting the rest of their consumer base ofcourse.

It's quite simple.

Have two control schemes set up for each game. I know it might take a little ekstra development time, but sonys able to do it since it's their developers.

So it would have the game detect if you're using a wand with the cam when starting up, or the dualshock and adjust to either using the motion controls or the regular controls (and sixaxis)

Atleast that's what i hope they'll decide to do :P

That's doable, but it won't fully take advantage of the controller. Controls can have a big impact on game design, and the gamepad control will limit the motion control mode (and possible vice-versa).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Except you can't move your character with Sony's motion controls, so they'd need to address that first....

they need to develop a controller that can be converted into DS and back to the motion controller

Add a analogue and voila problem solved. Although i would recommend a second device. Most likely having 2 of the wands. Each one has a analogue.

The breakapart controller would work too.

Doesn't that leave you producing games that never truely take advantage of the strenghts of either controller, and are designed around the weaknesses of both controllers?

So add $20 for each analog to the already expensive combo that is the PS Eye + up to 4 wands... Or buy 8 wands....  That would be like $400-500....

Mmh good way to bring some profitability to the plateform

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

8 wands at 20 dollars is 160 dollars.

plus .. how much is the eye ? 30 ? that's 190.

The 360s camera is rumored to go on retail for around 200

This is certainly a cheaper solution than that. And cheaper than the wiis controllers.. but ofcourse this is all speculation at this point.

I really did find it interesting and i hope it'll get some good support and not just ports of wii games lol.
