Forums - Gaming - Sony and Microsoft fanboys, do you guys REALLY care about motion control?

I have serious doubts about the financial viability of either of those two motion things.

On a gamer side both seem to be functional in their own ways, even though neither measures up to the Wiimote Plus and Nunchuck combo provided by Nintendo. I've never had a problem with MS and Sony implementing motion control. I just know neither one gets the strategy Nintendo employed and will never support it accordingly because they don't get it.

When Sony presented the motion dildo, I distinctly remember the word "casual games" being thrown around haphazardly, and I lowered my head in shame then. As far as Natal goes, I'm just skeptical about the whole thing other than that Milo program. If Molyneux can give me Seaman on an acid trip then I will give him props until the end of time(god that sounds funnier when my mind rummages in the gutter). Especially if Milo can become self aware and build Skynet when I push him hard enough to do it.

As a PS3 owner, I've felt from the beginning that motion controls are lame, and was incredibly happy that Sony did not incorporate them. IMO the Wii is lame because of them, but now the 360 and my poor PS3 are also lame lol to a certain extent. Curse you, Sony. Thankfully, the motion controls were but a blip in their otherwise spectacular E3 showing.

At least they were trying to say that our motion controls are going to be used for more "hardcore" purposes (RTS, FPS, 3'rd Pers Action). I don't like motion controls, but I do appreciate their attempt at reassuring the "hardcore".

Now that you mention it, the ONLY genre I can see making decent use of the motion controls is RTS (and even then, I'd rather they just make a mouse peripheral, or have Sony buy the rights to the Frag FX or something).  I'd never wanna play a shooter in which I had to wiggle some stupid thing around at the screen.

It's all about the game.

No problem with it, if it works well

i do like the tech behind NATAL and the milo program, but for normal gaming i will prefer the normal controller. i think it can provide some very interesting and unique experiences, though.

I don't think its hypocritical. Ive never disliked the idea behind the Wii, only the way it was implemented and the supporting software. If Nintendo had moved to improve any of these I'd give them a second glance.

The motion controls have great ideas in theory, like playing Football or Boxing with Natal or doing RTS with the PSDildo, or anything (not traditional) 1st and 3rd party publishers can come up, remember that Nintendo is not covering even 25% the ideas behind motion controlling, so i prefer seeing what Sony and Microsoft have in mind once the projects are complete...
