Forums - Microsoft - Halo 3:ODST 4 player co-op FireFight mode=Halo 3 Horde mode

http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/features.aspx

Drop feet first into a new way to play Halo with the cooperative campaign mode, Firefight. Form a squad of your friends over System Link or Xbox LIVE and put your skills to the ultimate test against the invading Covenant war machine for glory, high scores, and achievements. Do battle in multiple environments, on foot or in vehicles, and against increasingly difficult waves of Covenant attackers while Halo 3's skull modifiers progressively activate to up the ante.

After the Firefight, relive and review every last kill you earned and see how your high scores and stats stack up against your friends' and the community overall using Bungie.net's persistent online stats and Firefight leaderboards.

This just made this expansion a whole lot meatier.  Cannot wait.

EDIT: Oops, doesn't say 4 player.  Could be more.

Hmmm, in GeoW I liked it but don't played it that much though.

It only feel a bit weird to do it against covenants doesn't sound so awesome.

i dont know bout this....we could be seeing the same waves of enemies over and over again since the only enemies are the Brutes and Grunts pretty much. In Gears, there was a hefty load of variety in the enemies and what they looked like

Brutes, grunts, jackals, Banshees, Brute Choppers, Wraiths, Ghosts, the covenant Warthog equivalent, hunters, prophets, elites, those flying thingies, there are more than enough enemies.

Halo 3 has vehicles, Gears doesn't.

My brother and I were watching the Bungie presentation and after we saw Reach be revealed, he said "I think something in my pants is moving."

That sentiment is pretty much the same as I wanted to shed a tear. Haha =P. But this Fire Fight sounds awesome. I hope someone from VGchartz gets to play it and tells us all about it!!!

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Yeh the only other type of enemy you mentioned were the jackels and only mentioned the enemies on vehicles....what do vehicles do to change the appearance of an opponent? Its the same Brute driving the same old ghost/banshee since Elites are on the good side now. Gears have different variations like Grinders, Snipers, wretches, sires, bloodmounts, boomers, flamers, the kantus, and tickers all ranging from small to big types of enemies. I mean they might all have different weapons but all your giving them are vehicles to ride on....wat does that help?

Gears might not have vehicles in horde mode but the power weapons like the mortar and mulcher do sure make up for it

P.S. Prophets dont do anything since all they do is order everyone around and Elites a big no no since its set between Halo 2 and 3 which was around the time the humans and elites set for peace to fight the covenant. Hunters a possibility

Enemies driving vehicles might as well be as a different enemy. Different movement, different weapons, different strengths, weaknesses. The only reason you know who is driving is when you hijack them or blow them up. Vehicles add a lot to combat, more so than a different variation on the same enemy. A brute attack you and a brute chopper attacking you are two completely different experiences.

And this is a seperate gameplay mode, they do not have to stick with story, so elites could definitely be on the list of bad guys.

Lol you do have a point with a dfferent experiance for each fight, but im just going to let this go since i love both the Gears and Halo franchises =). I just hope Bungie can give it a different and fun experiance than Nazi Zombie or Horde Mode and the skulls can give a big factor on how you experiance each game we play.

Dude Halo has more than enough enemies.  And each enemy has a couple fifferent classes.

I have been wanting a gears like horde mode for Halo for so freakin long.   This just made the game ten times better!!!
